Called here Sunday evening for a meal in the smart restaurant, we were took straight in to our table and given the menu, while we were looking the very smart waitress came with two types of bread and spread a nice touch, I had line caught battered fish my wife had lamb shank and lamb shoulder fritter, the menu is very good all the food we had was 1st class, you pay a bit more here than other places in the village but it is well worth the extra the place has class which is plain to see, a good choice for a special occasion

Lovely hotel in a beautiful quaint Yorkshire village. We really enjoyed our stay at Grassington House, the rooms were spotless and the food was tasty and well presented. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and we will definately re visit in the future.

There was a good choice on the fixed price menu. Maybe extra vegetables could have been offered but the food was really well prepared and tasty. 8 plates went back empty. The strudel was delicious. We would go there again.

A regular for 30 years. GH the place of choice for our family from wakes to 80th Birthday celebrations.

A year ago we came for my Dad's 80th and GH nailed it. We returned for my Mum's 80th today (Saturday) and they nailed it again for our party of 9. So why is this a top place to go?

Many reasons.

The staff are always on their game. Polite, professional and pollished. And BIG tick from me as they ALWAYS remember who ordered what - most places never master this basic.

Comp' bread, tasty and freshly made - a nice touch.

A starter for me of tampura prawns, tasty, good presentation and full of freshness. The coriander and Marie Rose sauce a perfect contrast with the lime salt, lined up in a line on the left of the slate dish

A main - grouse for me. Locally caught, or should that be shot? Have not had this bird for many a long year, but wow, this worth waiting for. The breast of the bird, cooked to pink perfection with a tasty beetroot. Chef John Rudden, really on form here and I was not surprised as GH often plays host to shooting parties who then have their own birds dressed. It was September 8th, but the quality was the glorious 12th of August.

And then you want me to share what treat we had for pudding or should I say dessert if you're from Surrey.

Well Dad had some lovely ice cream, but the rest of us enjoyed Mum's birthday cake which was lit, delivered and served without question and with love. GH "lost out" on revenue but they gained so much goodwill for just doing what we wanted. THANK YOU THAT MEANT A LOT.

I've been lucky to eat in 70 countries around the World and yes yawn a number of M3 restaurants. BUT GH takes some beating. I hope to return, before the next wake...

Go, eat the food and go to heaven whilst still being on planet earth. Ahmen

There's nothing bad to write about this place. It's, and it's a poor description, it's....OK! We had an OK meal. The starter choice was good however the carpaccio was off that night. Main course - nothing jumped out of the menu although the presentation of the filet mignon was pretty and 'cheffy' it didn't displease just failed to ignite. We had to wait to be seated whilst three staff faffed about with a computer screen although once they decided to welcome us, they smiled. Service and delivery of food was fast and efficient - it's just the atmosphere was lacking and the wow factor missing. In summer it will be a perfect location to sit outside and people watch. Tables are available for two hours only according to the booking. Have a go and see for yourself - we had to try, we did and that's that!
Parking by the way was slightly problematic so be prepared to walk if the square if full.
It's wonderful to walk after dinner on a good day but if the weather's bad or you have difficulties walking this may be something to consider.
