Having googled the cottage after booking (silly of me) I discovered that our SUV would probably not fit in the garage. We did manage to squeeze it in but with inches to spare either side. We travelled down with our one year old daughter and arrived at the cottage, managed to fit the car in with a squeeze and unloaded the car but when entering the cottage the windows were left wide open to air the property due to the stale musty smell. Upon futher inspection the tiled floors had piles of dog hair floating about and clearly had not been cleaned. The kitchen is very old and found the cutlery to be sticky and dead spiders in the cupboards. I tried to use the dishwasher but that was out of salt and on its last legs. I had to try and clean the cottage to make it okay for my one year old to crawl about but after several hours, and a very tired grumpy baby we decided to leave the cottage and find alternative accommodation. I spoke to the owner and she assured me the cleaner (if thats what you can call them) had been. The owner would not refund us even though we had cleaned the place!! and accused us of leaving the property in a bad state even though she was sunning herself in California she obviously had believed the 'cleaner' when they came back later on. A lesson learned never book a cottage with no feedback as it had none at the time. Okay if you have dogs and dont mind a bit of dirt and grime but definitely not good for young children.

Elm Cottage is a very comfortable and well equipped cottage set on a hill a short walk from Marazion. On arrival it was very welcoming with tea, coffee, biscuits etc laid out and fresh flowers. The garage was an added bonus as parking in Marazion is at a premium and also the wifi was much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our week enjoying the walk into Marazion which gas some nice restaurants and coffee shops and using the open topped bus for trips to St Ives and Penzance and, of course , the walk to St Michaels Mount over the causeway. All in all a lovely experience.
We went on a family trip with our children and grandparents. We all enjoyed out stay. The accommodation was comfortable, homely and comfortable. We loved the fireplace and the children loved making their toasted marshmallows bakes in the evening.
The walks from the cottage to the sea were lovely, and all of us were pleased with our stay. We would highly recommend anyone with a family to visit. We will definitely be visiting Elm Cottage, next year.

We stayed at elm cottage during August 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cottage is delightful, a traditional cornish seaside cottage in a fantastic location. The cottage was cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed having BBQ's in the courtyard of an evening as there is a gas BBQ.
It is great that the shops, beach and local pubs are only a short walk away. If you have kids there is a park just over the road. Marazion beach also has a lovely play area for children. The fish and chip shop in marazion is brilliant.
There are so many fabulous beaches locally (praa sands being my personal favourite) that it is hard to decide which to go to!
We found it perfect for our family holiday and we hope to return!

Marazion is a lovely little Cornish Village with a glorious beach and home to St Michaels Mount. Elm cottage is located within easy walking distance of all that Marazion has to offer. The cottage has the potential to be a high quality holiday home, however there are some major issues that need to be resolved. Firstly, it is advertised as having off road parking (a must in Marazion), however we could not get our car in the garage at all. If your car is larger than a Ford Fiesta, it will not fit in the garage at all! The nearest parking is free, but a lot further than 200yds away (as the owner says). Then there is the issue of the foul stench emanating from the area outside the downstairs toilet. We contacted the owners about this during our stay, they clamed not to have noticed a smell and that they would get back to us about it. I still await a reply! I suspect a problem with drainage. Finally the cleanliness of the cottage and the quality of the fixtures and fittings need improved. It was not overly dirty, but it was not clean, dirty cutlery and utensils in the kitchen meant we went out and bought our own. We really enjoyed our time in Marazion and will return, but would not stay in Elm Cottage again
