Hotel Comtes de Challant has been for many years the place we looked forward to for our first night in Italy (just off the motorway) on our way to Tuscany for our Easter holiday. We appreciate this family run Hotel with the excellent restaurant and the Italian (Aosta) food ....the fabulous view on the Alps, the Aostian scenery and Fenis Castle just in front of the Hotel. The family and the staff are very friendly and helpful....the rooms very clean - with free wifi - inviting you to stay longer, visit beautiful Aosta (10km)...the castles etc....loving the 'cuisine du chef' : the home smoked salmon( my favourite), the lamb chops,...and all the special dishes 'Val d'Aostane'.......the really nice breakfast : don't miss the home-made marmalades - (orange is my favorite)

This is an elegant family run hotel in a nice quiet town with beautiful scenery. Rooms are nice and basic, free wifi, each room had a balcony so in summer you can leave it open and let the cool mountain air in while you sleep soundly. The restaurant is great, local specialties including hearty alpine fare, I had some of the best meals here in the whole time I was in Italy. Wine list includes local varieties I will venture you will have never tried before. Breakfast includes homemade jams that are both unusual and tasty. Prices were very reasonable. Location is basically In the middle of Aosta Valley so an easy drive to Cormayuer or Bard. Service from the time I checked in was genuinely friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Great restaurant, central Aosta valley

This was a stopover for us for one night on the way back from Sicily to the UK selected on the basis of previous reviews here. It did not disappoint. A friendly welcome and the invitation to park our heavily laden car in the garage under the hotel was followed by the first glimpse of the view from our room: a lovely panorama of the mountains and Fenis castle in the evening sunshine. Dinner was excellent and portions generous, and there were good quality local wines available by the glass. The staff were all very helpful and friendly as is frequently our experience in family-run hotels and restaurants such as this.
The location just off the motorway is extremely convenient.
Breakfast was unexceptional, as in most Italian hotels, and the decor somewhat dated but these minor criticisms should not detract from a very positive impression overall. If we take a similar route next time we shall certainly stay at Comtes de Challant again and try to have two nights here so we have a day to explore the local area.

Oh, the most divine food lovingly prepared by Giovanni. We watched him on Sunday morning picking raspberries from his garden - they were yummy.

This is a family run business, and, it is run with love. Nothing is too much trouble and the atmosphere is delightful.

Our room was wonderful, overlooking the old fortress, stunningly lit at night. The only noise being the owls at night!

The whole hotel was clean and bright, with some lovely touches - i.e. the wooden stove in the entrance, with the beautiful artistic painting of a room behind it. How clever someone is.

We will stay here again. It is ideally situated for us when we go from home to the ferry at Ancona each year. Will have to diet before each stay though. The food at breakfast was FANTASTIC, all home made and local produce. Hmm, lovely. Only wish more places could follow their fantastic hotel.

A delightful family run hotel which is comfortable, modern but full of character which epitomises the local area; delightful attention to detail with friendly, attentive service. The food is stunningly good - freshly prepared by an excellent chef, lovingly produced & eaten by us with relish!! This is the perfect location to stop at, en route from France or from other Italian cities whilst heading west - we have etched it in our must-return-to-places' notebook. Our room faced the town's 14th century castle / fortress with an accompanying balcony which caught the beautifully bright early morning sunshine.
