We have been visiting the Moraira area since the 1980's and have stayed in various self catering villas and hotels. After reading the reviews of this villa in El Portet, which is one of our favourite locations, I thought I had made the perfect choice for a 2 week stay after driving from the south coast of England.
Let's start with the positives:
Great location in a quiet area up the hill from the beach at El Portet with a long, narrow terraced garden leading down to the pool area below. Good garden furniture on the two terraces and 2 comfortable chairs and small table in the naya giving shade if required.
A lovely walk from the villa into the town of Moraira through gardens, the marina and the pretty narrow streets with fantastic views to Ifach.
A well equipped kitchen, although, would have appreciated perhaps a small 6 place dishwasher.
Although, I had read that the villa was spotlessly clean this was not the case on arrival. Also, the beds in Bedroom 2 had not been made up and in Bedroom 1 there was no duvet cover, just a flat sheet on the mattress and underneath the duvet. This was resolved by emailing the owner but was an indicator that the property is not being efficiently managed. I dusted all the surfaces and cleaned the kettle which had lots of lime scale deposits.
Our main problem over the fortnight period was the lack of space around the beds and the nightly challenge of trying to go to the bathroom during the night without bumping into the sharp edges of the bed frame or the chest of drawers!! So pleased that my daughter didn't join us for a long weekend and certainly cannot imagine how 2 couples would manage!! There is no wardrobe in Bedroom 2 only hooks and hangers behind the door!!
All in all a disappointing stay in a villa with more IKEA furniture and products than I've seen in a long time.
The house is located a short walk from the beautiful bay of El Portet and approximately 30 minutes from the lovely town of Moraira (5 minutes by car).
The accommodation is well kept and spotless. It is well equipped for an all year round stay. There are several outdoor seating areas that lend themselves to sun or shade and a lovely pool. As our stay was in March we didn't make use of the pool.
The log burner made the lounge very cosy on the cool evenings. There is also air con for the hot summer months.
We had a problem with the TV which was resolved promptly by the owner.
I would not hesitate to revisit this accommodation.
Beautiful little house with great outdoor space. Spotlessly clean.
Clean swimming pool & just the right temperature.
