Description: If you want to eat out in Bishops Castle look no further - Shropshire has a long history of culinary excellence. Shrewsbury has a plethora of good restaurants, and Ludlow is just down the road, which for a time boasted more Michelin starred restaurants than London itself! We don‘t do Michelin at The Castle, but we certainly use many of the same local suppliers. We’re spoilt for them actually. What we aim to produce is modern, good pub food that is healthy, hearty, flavoursome & fresh at great value of course. And you’ve a wide choice of places to eat at The Castle. Each of the three bars has its own individual character, some with open fires, some with terraces out into the garden. Or try our oak panelled restaurant, believed to feature in the Mary Webb novel “The House in Dormer Forest”. And when the weather is warm, & remember it’s always sunny in Shropshire, our south facing gardens with terrace & raised fish ponds provide the perfect spot for a light repast and a cooling beverage.

There was an excellent selection of menu choices, with good quality food. Service was second to none

although we did not stay here, myself and 3 friends called in for lunch yesterday, what a lovely warm welcome, they even put more wood on the open fire as it was a nippy day, we all ordered a starter and main meal, the food was lovely and very filling, and served piping hot, the staff were some of the friendliest i have met, we are thinking of going for a long weekend when the weather warms up, and some great information was given.well done all the staff

Glad to say pie still on menu, although not steak - it was pheasant, rabbit and venison and Wow. Homemade chips lovely as was veg. Could not manage starter or pudding neither could hubby.
Husband said Three Tuns Solstice beer gorgeous and I thought pinkster gin excellent.

Met friends for lunch. Good service. The others had starters and would say the pate was well presented and delicious, as well as the salmon. Then went on to main which was a large portions ladies had the wild boar burger which was tasty on a brioche bun with sweet potato fries and onion rings whilst the men had the pie steak and cheese, which was and individual pie encased in a lovely pastry and good filling with crispy chips, don't feel any of us had clean plates only because of amount. Didn't have dessert. My friend had a trio of local beers which she enjoyed. Highly recommend, nice setting with nice views of the town which has some lovely buildings.
