This was a pleasant stay in " horse country" in a delightful part of Portugal.
The room was fine but a trifle basic. The dinner was minimal and definitely to be avoided as it was poor value for money. Breakfast was first come, best served, if you were late there was little left! I noted that two complimentary drinks from the proprietor were charged on my bill! The historic house was worth the stay alone as were the Lusitano thoroughbreds. The village of Golega, 3 miles away, is fascinating where horses and riders can be seen practising their dressage moves in the communal village arena.

We stayed in this place for a week and it was fantastic! I did horse riding every day and my wife could relax by the pool. Very good accomodation, well trained horses, good facilities, lot's of wine, good food and finally very friendly people. The trainer was also a very nice andprofessional guy. I would recommend this place to anybody who likes horse riding as Golega / Azinhaga are wellknown for the Lusitano "culture". We will come back for sure!!

Very nice place, a lot ot confort on the rooms and all the hotel facilities, with a very country side look and good tast decoration. Very good for a quiet walk around the garden by the swimming pool and to have a look at the horses on the boxes, or just spend a few time reading a book on the several garden chairs at our disposal.

Room Tip: It seeems to be difficult to choose what room to have, hence they are all nice, but the ones showing...

I stayed in this beautifull ranch for a full week. I'm very critical; it has to be beautifull, clean and social and fun at the same time. It definitely was. Upon entrance you are mesmerized by the beauty and serenity of the ranch. Then you are instantly happy about the beautifull and well-trained horses you get to ride on and the very, very professional trainer who trains you and only you for a sweet 1,5 hours.
A perfect day in this ranch entails waking up for a nice breakfast, first lesson or outside ride (whichever you prefer), relaxing at a nice, big swimming pool, warm lunch with wine, relaxing yet again (or visiting Tomar or Golega at just 20 min ride), second lesson, dinner, bed. And you get to do it all again the next day:-)!. I specifically want to notice that I felt very welcome. I also learned how to jump which I'm taking home with me. So...a perfect holiday!

I came for the opportunity to ride a lusitano, but can really recommend the place also for those only looking for accommodation. Stayed in a single room in the manor house - cosy bedroom, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast. Raquel and her staff are really friendly and welcoming. The entire place is beautiful, neat and spotless - the stable as well as bedrooms and bathrooms.

And the horses? Well kept and trained - judging from the stallion I got to ride and several other horses I saw during my stay. I took a one-hour riding lesson, which was a lot of fun and a good exercise. Trying the Spanish walk was really an experience!

Check the homepage www.solarespiritosanto.com for photos that describe the place well (although I found it smaller, more personal and with more character - the pleasant kind of deviations from the expected).
