“Wonderfully Relaxing”

My husband and I stayed here for two days with our 15 year old son and my mother whom is in her 70’s; we had a lovely stay and agree with all the other reviewers with their positive comments about how wonderful The Wharf Waterfront Suites are. Their reviews are correct and I will not repeat the same information.

Just a note; although there are no steps down to the waterside from this gorgeous apartment the pathway is extremely steep, we were aware of this before we booked and therefore we were not disappointed when my mother whom isn’t as active as she use to be, decided that it wouldn’t be wise to venture down the steep pathway and chose to stay on the sun drenched patio area.

Gaylene and Daniel were excellent hosts and suggested a superb walk just a couple of miles down the road which followed the coastline and was exquisite. We also rented a little motor boat for a couple of hours and explored Pender Harbour from the water, this was fabulous and we saw Bald Eagles, Seals basking on the rocks and Sea Otters.

We stayed here as part of an eighteen day tour of The Rockies, West Coast and Vancouver Island which I planned and organised myself, whilst I was in the planning stages of our trip I seriously considered missing out The Sunshine Coast because of having to take ferries and wandered if it was going to be worth the effort. I am SO pleased that we decided to visit here; the ferry journeys were outstanding, (better than the ferry journey between North and South Island New Zealand if you’ve ever done that one). From Pender Harbour we continued north and took the ferry from Earls Cove to Saltery Bay and then over to Vancouver Island from Powell River, a really memorable trip and well worth the extra effort and expense. We have travelled extensively over the years as you can see from my profile and we all agreed that our Canadian holiday was one of our best ever and The Wharf Waterfront Suite and The Sunshine Coast contributed considerably to this.

I would definitely come back here again and would most certainly recommend it to my friends and family.

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights and regretted not staying longer. We were very pleased with the entire experience. The suite is like a luxury hotel- very clean and has a stunning waterfront view. The beds are comfortable, and the master bedroom has a king-size bed and the view is fantastic- I wake-up always with a smile.

We all enjoyed just staying in the balcony or even just in the living room as the place has 180 degrees of waterfront view. We enjoyed watching the boats and sails go by. No need to hike long distance to explore nature- nature right in the backyard- from small creatures like butterflies, humming birds to eagles, deer, seals, sea otters, and if you're lucky- you might even see whales and dolphins.

Thank you, Gaylene and Daniel for the memories. We always explore Sunshine Coast, and this is the best vacation we had by far. We will definitely recommend your place to friends and relatives. See you next summer.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review Christian. So glad you enjoyed the whole experience of coming here - from the ferry ride, the nice drive and the serenity of the place. As I already mentioned to another guest, we are always tweaking things to make guests' stay here even more enjoyable...we now have a sort of secret, sheltered area in the forest with a natural spring water feature, yet another barbeque area for guests and a small gazebo-type structure that is cozy and private to sit in on the wharf if there is a breeze or guests want even more privacy. Please do come again. Kind regards. You're a great photographer! Gaylene and Daniel

Thanks so much Ryan and Trisna for the absolutely glowing review! We are extremely pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the suite so much. We hope to see you here again in not too distant future. We also enjoyed your company very much when you joined us for hotdogs at our firepit. By the way, the little gazebo on the wharf is even better now. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Daniel and Gaylene

This place is a taste of heaven! First of all , you will not find a prettier spot on the west coast
. The views from your suite, the balcony and anywhere on the property are absolutely awesome!! The birds and wildlife abound - and there are so many cozy places to explore and relax. The suite is very spacious and spotless . Attention to detail is everywhere from a fully equipped kitchen to books and videos binoculars robes and a sumptuous king size bed!! The dock is also a wonderful place to relax and watch the sunsets!! Small and thoughtful additions and conveniences have benn added everywhere. It is obvious that the owners really love and take impeccable care of this place! The hosts are kind and gracious in every way . You will feel like family from the moment you arrive ! This is a 5 star property in every way !!!!

Hi Del (and Lynda). Thank you so much for your kind review. You are right...it is like paradise (any time of the day or night it is beautiful)...yes many of our guests, once here, do not want to leave the place and do many things they had planned...they just relax and unwind. We absolutely do love the place...we are always "tweaking" it. Daniel always has great ideas for different areas for guests to relax....we now have three different barbeque areas for guests to enjoy. The newest addition is in the sunny area near the small fire pit (in addition to the covered balcony at the suite and a small BBQ near boathouse at the water's edge). Look forward to seeing you both again. regards Daniel and Gaylene

“Relaxing ocean view from large modern suite”
Reviewed May 13, 2012 for a stay in May 2012

The owners Gaylene and Daniel were warm, gracious and friendly hosts. They made our 3 day stay very special. The quiet and peaceful location with an amazing view overlooking the ocean and small islands is very picturesque. The many gardens, walkways, multiple outdoor seating areas, and wildlife added to the serenity of the property.

The suite is a self contained unit that is the entire lower level of the home. The dining and living room overlook the ocean and wharf through large windows and sliding glass doors which opens out to the huge private, covered deck area with glass railings. The two bedrooms are a good size with one having a king size bed, a great view of the ocean, and direct access to the deck. The full size kitchen has everything you need.

We enjoyed the many hummingbirds, bald eagles soaring above, gardens, and whimsical decorative touches throughout the property. The private wharf has a protected seating area if it's breezy. Watching the sunset from the wharf was very special. The paths around the property have motion sensing lights so staying down at the wharf until after sunset is safe.

The steep driveway down to the property could be an issue for timid drivers but the owners offer to drive your vehicle into your parking space when you need to. It looks more intimidating than it really is.

This is a great place to stay if you want to get away and experience life at a slower pace. The village of Madeira Park 10 minutes away has a grocery store, liquor store, bakery but not much else. There a few pubs in the area but don't expect much in the way of fine dining. Francis Point Provincial Park close by has an easy 2 hour hike along the ocean with great places to stop along the smooth rocks.

We were very pleased with our stay and look forward to visiting them again.

Thanks for the glowing review Carsten. We also enjoyed having you and Melanie here. Hope to see you again in not too distant future, but maybe longer next time, so you could see some of the other attractions here, like Princess Louisa Inlet and maybe take in a Blues and Jazz festival later in the year. Gaylene and Daniel (PS: we were impressed with your knowledge of local bird life!)
