Having driven here whilst in this part of the island, we were met by a nice local man who welcomed us and explained about the attraction, when you have looked at the outdoor exhibits he said, follow the yellow lines inside and there will be someone to give you an information talk about how the olive oils are produced etc, unfortunately when we arrived inside, the current tour had just finished and all they were now interested in was selling as much product as they could to the previous tour, we never did get the information talk so we just wandered about ourselves and looked at the press and machinery.
Worth a visit but ask what time the next talk will take place, I am sure the visit will be more enjoyable if you do.

As the trip to the olive oil factory is only about 20 minutes once you are there, the best way to experience this trip is to take the 'fun train' tour, (the train is blue and white).

I know what the train tour picks up from Kalamaki as well as Laganas. The tour lasts 3 hours and first takes you to a ceramic pottery class and then on to the olive oil factory. The olive oil factory is really fantastic and you will learn a lot about the makings of olive oil from the informative tour guides. There is also olive oil tasting at the end of the tour. The trip also has a wonderful drive through olive trees which is beautiful. You will learn a lot from this trip.

Again, if you are visiting the olive oil factory and museum, I recommend that you do so through the 'fun train' as it makes it more of a day out for you.

Thank you!

My husband had hired a car for a couple of days. On the second day we called at this Olive Oil factory. There is no charge for the tour and full very knowledgeable explanation of how virgin olive oil is made and the different types. We really enjoyed our hour or so there. We did but some olive oil to take home but there was absolutely no pressure with the exit door fully open at all times.
Definitely worth a visit for adults and families.

It is the biggest olive oil factory on the island, with a museum part. You will be told about the process itself and the rules of producing oil. Then there is an opportunity to taste it: normal, orange, lemon and garlic oil. Everuthing is very tasty.

We had an interesting trip out to the olive press factory/museum. Outside the building was a selection of old farming and olive press equipment. Inside the English speaking guide talked through the process of making olive oil and products made using the oil. He talked through the process as he led us through the factory. He was very knowledgeable and made the visit well worthwhile. At the end of the visit you can sample and purchase the products. What seemed like a questionable and unexciting choice of somewhere to visit - actually turned out to be far more interesting, enjoyable and educational than first thought. Well worth a visit and sample and buy the oil - it was delicious!
