As a family of three with a six months old baby we enjoyed our stay at Baobab to the fullest. We were a bit nervous as it was the first get-away with our baby (we reside in Nairobi) and the festive season, so very busy. But our nervousness disappeared immediately when we were warmly welcomed by the Baobab staff and saw the huge domain guests can enjoy in a calm and relaxing atmosphere even during this festive season. We particularly enjoyed the quite surroundings at Maridadi Resort and the spacious house we were in.
The food was excellent looking at price quality and small things like cocktails or beers in glasses instead of plastic cups make a difference with other all in resorts. The service was high standards at all times and staff was very kind and attentive.
The view from the lodge is amazing, overlooking the renowned Diani Beach. We will definitely return!

This was my 3rd visit to this vast hotel...and I obviously came back because I love it. I checked in with my family 23rd Dec to 2nd Jan. I love Dealing with Hamisi at reservations ..always efficient!
The check in was warm at kole kole our room was ready when we got there at noon.
The usual monkeys everywhere. ...nice to see them again. ..They even put up a show at our room balcony playing endlessly. .
Christmas eve ... food not so great .... but where food fell short the beach party made up for it 20 times over...It was fantastic.
After Christmas was a few slow days where everything seemed like a repeat. ..even the entertainment seemed dull and so was the food. .but the best part is Chai the Italian food chef always comes to the rescue when nothing else is appealing on the buffet.
The sulisuli bar is always efficient. ..With friendly bar men. ..except on 27th Dec in the evening. .a guy with no smile worse still he did not bother to clean the wine glasses he just turned them over and served the next guy. ..horrifying!

Then came new years eve and what a spectacular show !perfect dinner..ok band...great DJ and even better fire works display faultless bash..loved it.

An area that really needs improvement is the accommodation. ..we had to ask for shower curtains. .The inside of the toilet didn't look like it was well cleaned. The shower handle in my kids room kept falling off. ..sometimes only one towel was provided while there were 2 kids...Some towels are a color you can't recognise. ..is it brown or off white...? Most days no laundry bags provided...
The worst was my last evening when the room attendant threw off my contact lenses off the face towel I had been placing them in their case from day one... what's the deal with that? Did the room attendant really think I'd steal a single face towel.?....but even then why throw out my contact lenses... that was rude..

All in all there are great people here like Silas', Juma, animation team..The chefs...pool attendants just wonderful.

Will I be back? I don't know ....may be ..but the room issue got to me .. alittle

Baobab is a very big resort divided in 3: Kole Kole, Baobab and Maridadi. All 3 sections have a beautiful pool area, a restaurant (or more) and a bar area. All guests can use all facilities. The reception area at Baobab is great, with daybeds under roof but in the sea breeze, plenty of space for sun loungers, coffee tables in the shade, and the open space restaurant. Travelling with a kid, we used to go to Kole Kole for the pool, fresh pizzas 11-16, ping pong table and fuss ball table. Maridadi is a slightly smaller area, but with 3 terraced pools with waterfalls. The beach is accessible from all 3 areas. We stayed quite far away, in the bungalows, and had no bar noise but heard the shows from the amphi theatre every night. It didn't bother us much though.

At first, we weren't super happy with the room - it had very hard beds, broken safe, unclosable cabinets and a toilet that didn't flush well. Someone brought an extra mattress and fixed the safe, and we learned to live with the rest. We just had to plan a bit ahead to avoid walking too much back and forth, so we brought swim gear, books, sunscreen etc at breakfast and stayed till midday.

The beach itself is truly stunning, but be prepared for "beach boys" who wants to sell everything; they are quite annoying. We got friends on the beach too (the masais and a couple teens off school), and they helped ward off the worst ones, and helped get the right prices when we wanted to shop a souvenir at departure.

Dining was quite good, but it gets boring after some days, as there's a lot of the same food every day. I found a lot of good Indian veggie options, and the kid liked the pasta station. The waiters were very attentive when we first arrived, but with fewer guests the service dropped - perhaps there were fewer waiters too? Anyway - had problems finding cups and cutlery at the tables the last few days.
There were a few monkeys hanging around the restaurant, but they are mostly entertaining. A bit scary to encounter a big baboon on the foot path to the bungalow one day - but he was just curious and left us alone. :) Remember to close your doors and windows or you will be looted of food!

All in all a good holiday, lots of friendly and helpful people, beautiful weather and beach, and shops/atm/bank/coffee shop just a short tuk-tuk ride away (100 ksh one way).

Hello travellers, let's talk about Baobab beach resort!
The team, the people working there are just fantastic & efficient. A very convivial place for couples, big family(no pets). The food is good .The cleaning service is good as well. The entertainment is excellent, from the stretching(strongly recommend ), aquagym,Zuma, playtime for kids(they are also taking care of) to the musical play. More than 3 swimming pools. If you love monkeys this is your place. They are many. They don't attack people only steal food here and there.
PS: The Internet connection is very weak, do not intend to use it for anything.
Do not leave food at the balcony. Always close the balcony's windows( because of the monkeys).

This is my second visit to Baobab Beach Resort & Spa. Phelly was friendly and helped check us in, my daughter took an instant liking to her! We had a superior room this time round, private and cozy with a view of the infinity pool. The food as always was great, Suleiman one of the waiters was very friendly and always on standby at our service. My now two year old little girl took an instant liking to him. Child friendly with activities for the whole family. A must visit for residents and non residents!
