The villa was everything we dreamed it would be. Well positioned, clean, spacious, well equipped. The pool was great and well maintained and in a glorious sun trap. The fact we could have a great view of the younger children from the balcony was a bonus. The views over the sea and mountains were lovely.
Penny, the owner, and her husband were very friendly and helpful, and we had some great chats.
Almyrida has everything you need. It was the start of the season so quite quiet which was ideal for us. Some great taverns on the sea front and a smashing little beach.
We hired a van which is needed if you want to travel a little. We didn't want to travel too far as its not fun for the kids, but there are some lovely places to visit, all within 45 mins drive.
The is a fantastic lake with paddle boats, a lovely set of taverns built into the mountain under a waterfall, Chania itself and Souda port.
All in all, when we travel with our four kids, ranging from 5-15, we like to ensure we have a great base to work from and relax in. This villa was fantastic and we would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about visiting the West of the Island of Crete.
PS The only reason we have put good instead of great for the mattresses, is that they are very firm which may affect those that need a bit of softness when they sleep. They were spotless, but you would have a few issues if you hated very firm mattresses.
