Myself and my husband got married here at the end of January 2012. We really cannot fault the day and all the help from the staff. Everything went without a hitch and we would definitely recommend to others considering booking for their wedding venue. The grounds are gorgeous, as are the rooms. The bridal suite we stayed in was lovely, with a gorgeous en-suite, although we hardly spent any time in our room anyway! We booked the blue room for the wedding which was set up to a great standard by the staff inbetween our ceremony and reception whilst guests had drinks and we had photos outside. We had 90 guests and the service for the food was excellent and very well organised. The food was very nice and tasty, even for such a large number of guests we really enjoyed the food as did our guests.

Although the price of the rooms are quite expensive, I think they are priced right for the type of venue and the beautiful grounds. It really is a gorgeous setting for a wedding and one of the nice things is that it isn't pretentious; all of our guests felt comfortable and relaxed.

Special thanks to Gilly, our wedding co-ordinator who made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the day.

Would definitely recommend for a wedding venue, and would recommend for a special night away but I do appreciate some of the reviews that comment on if you are staying in the hotel at the same time as a wedding being on, I imagine it might feel a bit like 'odd one out' and not sure where you can/can't go in the hotel.

We stayed for a night for a friends wedding and received friendly efficient service throughout our stay. The decor of the function rooms was lovely and our room had recently been refurbished. The food was good and the setting beautiful, highly recommended !!!

Stayed here when we attended a friends wedding, we live locally but decided to treat ourselves and were very glad we did. Beautiful grounds and lovely building. We had a room on the first floor with a sea view, very clean and tidy with the best pillows ever!
The staff were all friendly and made us feel welcome. Rang reception for an iron & board and it arrived in minutes.

The wedding seemed to go without a hitch (as far as we could tell anyway), the food was delicious and lots of it. Breakfast was busy but very nice.

I have read some of the reviews on this hotel and can honestly say they seem very damning and not what we experienced at all. Guess you cant please everyone but we certainly couldn't fault it.

My fiance and I booked one of the newly refurbed (so they told us) "deluxe" rooms for 3 nights as we were up from Devon, attending a friends wedding in another local hotel which happened to be full. The room was stunning, but the views of the forest and seaside are even more remarkable. The hotel also has a trail of temples through the grounds which lends to it's special atmosphere. My partner and I had a white wine nightcap in one of them on the last night. Very romantic. We dined in the hotel twice, during our stay, and had breakfast every morning, two of those were served to us in our room :-) The food was tasty and healthily prepared. I would return there again and again for that view.

Room Tip: Ask for one of their deluxe rooms or their mosr recently refurbished as there are some beauties, as...

Stayed for the weekend for a family wedding and couldn't have been made more welcome. Our room was really quirky and cool (I think it was room 208), which didn't have a view of the sea but other friends rooms did. The views are possibly the best we've ever seen at a hotel, woods and sea, it doesn't get much better. Had a drink with the owner, he was a hoot!
