“Fabulous cottage in beautiful rural setting”

Pagecroft is an exceptionally well-restored property, set in breathtaking rural surroundings. The décor, the linen, the shower fittings etc are all of the best quality, tastefully chosen. We were there in cold, wet weather, and the Aga in the kitchen was wonderful, both for warmth and for drying our damp clothing. The uninterrupted view from our bedroom window was of rolling fields down to the river, and the bird feeders outside the kitchen window attracted a stunning number and variety of wild birds. If you like a peaceful, rural, traditional cottage, this is one for you. Will definitely return.

We have just returned from a lovely week at Pagecroft Cottage, feeling refreshed and relaxed. The cottage has wide views of the valley above Haydon Bridge and is tucked away on the side of a hill overlooking fields and woods. We had a warm welcome from Imogen and were delighted with our welcome tray, tea, coffee, milk, delicious biscuits and the wild birds outside the kitchen window! The cottage is beautiful, spotless and full of character. The road links are excellent, within easy reach of Hadrian Wall and the Roman forts. Hexham and Corbridge are interesting town's nearby and we made a longer trip to Bamburgh and Seahouses which was worth the effort. The train service from Haydon Bridge provides good access to Carlisle and Newcastle. There is plenty to see and do in the area with good pubs and lots of places for tea and cakes. The cottage is so cosy, though we brought the cakes back to have with a cuppa either in the spacious kitchen or on the patio enjoying the Northumberland countryside!

“lovely cottage, in a lovely location, very peaceful and relaxing”
Reviewed June 16, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Cottage was beautiful, very clean and well equipped. Location was perfect with wonderful views all around. Ideal place to stay if you want to walk along Hadrian's Wall. The village has two pubs which did lovely food, also not far away in Langley there is a pub/restaurant called The Cart Bog, which did really good food. If you like walking, lovely country side and a relaxing time, this is an ideal place to stay.

“Fabulous Cottage”
Reviewed February 22, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

The cottage is just lovely, warm and cosy and very much like the little house seen in the movie 'The Holiday'. It takes some finding because it is off a steep country lane, but it really is worth the effort (and the directions from the owner are good). Would definitely visit again.

At first I thought that we were perhaps the first people to use this cottage, as it was in such good nick, and everything was super-clean. But the guest book indicated otherwise, with everyone commenting on these same things. I don't know how the owner manages it, but it really did feel as if no one had ever been there before you. It was decorated with really tasteful fittings; the kitchen was massive, with every utensil or cooking container you could imagine. And the view was brilliant. The neighbours were extremely helpful, and there is car parking for two vehicles. Really a quiet venue. I'd highly recommend it. We'd like to go back sometime.

Liked best: the attention to details by the property owner, both in fittings and in things they organised for their guests
Liked least: the steep stairway, rather short bed and an odd-sized toilet seat
