I don't often get time off from work, and living right here in Daytona Beach I can find rest, relaxation and a good clean room at a reasonable rate right at the Sun Viking. Whenever I have guests from out of town I recommend Sun Viking, as I live in a small apartment, and suggest to many locals they do the same.

We recently had an opportunity to stay at the Sun Viking Lodge over the Labor Day holiday. The staff were all friendly and courteous and made us feel "at home". The rooms were decorated so nicely and we just loved the fact that we had a full kitchen adjacent to the bedroom. Not only did we like the way the room was furnished but everything was really clean and it was large. We usually had breakfast in the room and lunch at the Viking Kafe which is poolside. The food was great. The kids absolutely loved the 60 Ft. waterslide. That was one of the things they looked forward to every day we were there. They alternated between using the outdoor pool and the indoor pool. We also spent time on the Beach. The beach in front of the Sun Viking is absolutely beautiful and was not crowded as the Carolina beaches are during major holidays. The room also had a private balcony and we loved sitting there watching the sun set. The staff at the Sun Viking directed us to two restaurants we especially enjoyed, the Cancun Lagoon and Inlet Harbor Restaurant.
The rates were reasonable. We walked away thinking, "what a deal!!" We can't wait to go back . In fact, we wished we lived there.

We have stayed at this hotel 6 times in the last few years. We love the location and the beach, but, the hotel is starting to show its age and is need of some renovations and updating. One of the windows in our room was stuck open, and when my husband tried to close it, the entire bottom part of the window fell out. He was able to fix it, but, the average person would have had trouble. The kitchen area is just run down and sad looking. The shower was a joke. It went from a nice steady stream to a trickle and back again during all of our showers. When my husband said something, he was told it was because the hotel was pretty full and most people were probably showering at the same time. We did have a problem with the bath tub draining and someone came up and fixed it right away. On a positive note, the pools are great, and the waterslide fun. I am crossing my fingers that the updating is done on this hotel before our next trip to Daytona Beach as the location and price can not be beat.

We would like to thank this guest for sharing her thoughts and suggestions. We certainly welcome constructive comments; it allows us to find out what is important to our guests and how we can improve.
We sincerely appreciate this guest and her family, for staying with us 6 times in the last few years; unfortunately, it deeply saddens us that we did not live up to their past expectations. We have owned the Sun Viking Lodge for over 37 years and we realize our guests are our most important assets.
It was nice to read her positive comments, such as the Sun Viking Lodge having a “great waterslide and pools”, offering a “great oceanfront location for family vacations”, having a “price that cannot be beat”, and finally, for the prompt service given from our staff on “fixing the tub drain right away” – these are very important goals to us and we are happy we achieved them.
Actually, we have been planning several renovations and we hope to implement them soon. However, with the dramatic downturn in tourism and the current economic atmosphere, we cannot afford to start this project just yet. Because of this, we have had to make some very serious decisions as to how to stretch our budget. The challenge is NOT to increase our room rates while maintaining many important features that are popular with our guests: our 60-foot waterslide; our heated indoor and outdoor pools; a year-round FREE recreation program; FREE fitness room, sauna and hot tub; a large children’s playground, and keeping “staffed up” to provide good service, housekeeping and maintenance. We will always strive to improve our facility and are committed to upgrades when we can afford them.
I am not sure why an employee told this guest that our water pressure was not adequate when many guests shower at once. This is actually not true; we will certainly look into this immediately, as it indicates a specific problem to this individual room. If the window problem had been reported, I feel sure it would have been repaired quickly.
Again, we sincerely appreciate the patronage and review from this returning guest. Daytona Beach is a wonderful place to vacation. We hope this family will return to the area once again to enjoy the World’s Most Famous Beach.

This is a wonderful clean family resort. So relaxing. I had minimal stress for 1 week. Would definitely return. Comfy rooms and respectful staff. The pools were very clean & perfect temperature and I cannot rave enough about the SLIDE-LOVE IT! Thanks for the free gifts upon arrival. We had fun at the beach and the weather really cooperated-BEAUTIFUL! The exercise room/sauna was nice and the hottub was refreshing. Love the privacy when we escaped to the roof top deck. The view from the balcony was great - loved watching the sun rise on the waters. The free newspapers were great also. Was disappointed that my son could not shoot hoops very well due to the area being used for parking. The snack shop access was handy.Loved the fact I could check my email even though i shouldnt have. Glad to have access to the in-room safe. Looking forward to a return visit.
Thanks for a great vacation :0)

We just returned home from a stay at the Sun Viking Lodge and are already talking with the rest of the family about a trip back next year. The waterslide was just as advertised. The staff was friendly and the room was as expected. We stayed 5 nights and ate in four nights. The full kitchen option is the way to go, especially for families with small children. There is a winn dixie and a publix less than a mile away. Shop for the week and leave your car parked.! The gas grills are free and there are plenty to use. The hotel cafe also is a nice break if you want something prepared for you. The prices are very reasonable there. We stayed at larger resorts in the past and found the pool areas very crowded and long waits at the elevators. The Sun Viking is smaller in comparison but still plenty going on. Our kids liked the daily activities as a nice break from the beach and heat. Of course it was July so there was a T-storm almost everyday which put a damper on the day, but never lasted more than 2 hours. Many guests we talked to were frequent visitors, perhaps we will become one as well.
