On our way to Pisa Airport and wanted a substantial lunch before we set out to leave Italy.
Checked TA and this one looked the goods. It did not disappoint.
No menu but the owner Fransceco gave us the run down and we just went along with the choices.
The amuse bouche was stunning especially the truffle flavoured chick pea and the reduced onions on toast were sweet as.
The black rice with mushrooms was full of flavour and my wife chose a type of thick spaghetti with a wonderfully enriched dressing comprising tomatoes, olives, capers and of course garlic.
We then chose two dishes that we found extremely good. Carpaccio with truffle shavings and a crusted seared tuna with sesame seeds. Both were delicious.
A bottle of local white and deserts to finish with wonderful homemade fresh bread thrown in. All for a total of €60.
No wonder the place was full for lunch.
Don't be put off with the location. It really was off the beaten track and clearly a local haunt.
