I'm not sure where to start. The tower is located on the top of a hill, with four immaculate rooms, each with incredible views. The terrace outside offers perhaps the best view we saw in our week of visiting Tuscany and Umbria. Every detail has been considered from the well stocked kitchen to the screens (yes screens in Italy!) on the door of the bedroom and the "sniper" openings to provide a nice cross breeze while you sleep without worrying about anything flying in. . I can't say enough about the town of Monticchiello, our favorite village of the trip. Peaceful, tidy, historic, beautiful, with a few excellent restaurants. The perfect place to stay in the perfect village. But the best part of our trip was meeting Francesca who was warm, kind, and welcoming.and made our stay perfect. We couldn't have had a nicer stay and it wouldn't have been the same without her.
A wonderful two night in this four story turret style accommodation in the charming village of Monticchiello.
As shown in the photograph, the tower is of mediaeval vintage. It was converted some 20 years ago to provide accommodation over four floors: one (fairly small) room per floor with a spiral staircase running up the whole tower inside at the back. The accommodation is well appointed despite being fairly small; ideal for a couple. Views from the balcony in front of the sitting room are spectacular; the view from the window in the 4th floor shower room is even better! The village is beautiful. It is quiet but nonetheless offers some good restaurants. There are several towns nearby which are well worth a visit, including Pienza and Buonconvento. The host at the Torre is the incomparable Guiseppe; friendly, incredibly helpful and happy to recommend places to visit as well as sort out any issues that might arise. He was simply excellent.
The tower is located on what appears to be the highest point in the beautiful small village of Monticchiello. The tower itself consists of 4 floors with a spiral staircase with bathroom on top floor and utilty toilet on first. The tower is on the small side but very unique with great views from all areas. We are so glad we chose it. The large outside area dedicated to the tower was incredible. The 2 chairs facing the Val D'Orciia were perfect to watch the sunsets. The hosts Guiseppe and Nicole were extremely accommodating and a lovely couple. Village itself had a wonderful feel of the residents knowing each other and few tourists. Plenty of fine restaurants including the memorable Osteria La Porta. The beauty and non touristy location along with a perfect area to explore Tuscany made this a great choice.
