Great experience

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed everything. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the food is great, and the tours offered were very well organized. If you are looking for a nice jungle experience, definitely book Liana lodge!

Liana Lodge is a beautifully build lodge nestled next to the river down stream about 75 minutes from Tena in the Ecuadorian rain forest. Leo the man in charge was very friendly and took good care of us. Our guide was Sooyou, he was great and worked very hard. All the other staff was friendly and made our stay comfortable.. The atmosphere was unmatched. The food was average and a bit on the salty side but eatable. Please be aware if you order a meal not included in your 2 or 3 day stay they will get you. We had lunch when we arrived a bit early to check in and they charged us $28 for two of us. I felt ripped off! I think I could have ordered lunch from Tena, had it delivered, (75 minutes) tipped the delivery man and got change back. I think $28 for 2 average lunches was a bit much. It did not spoil or experience but I would not go back. Bernie from California

Disappointing

We had a wonderful time in the amazonian forest, but only because the amazonian forest itself, with its gorgeous scenery is absolutely incredible. We spent 2 full days there and had a great time thanks to the amazing local guides, especially Suyu, whose enthusiasm and sense of humour contributed to making our experience memorable.

That being said, the lodge itself is very disappointing. The sheets were all dirty. when we asked for new sheets it wasn’t given to us. Anything we needed, we had to ask twice, or more. Toilet paper wasn’t changed etc. The service was bad. The people at the reception (Leo and another girl) were cold and unpleasant.

As per the food, its good enough if you come with no expectation. However, we had been told that the food in the amazonian region was fabulous and it definitely wasn’t anything special. So, if you are looking for delicious food, you should look for it elsewhere. Also, if you have food restrictions, don’t expect to be accommodated. I told them early on i eat fish but no meat and yet many of my meals were rice, potatoes and salad.

To conclude, definitely do visit this part of the world!! This lodge is OK but its overrated

Glad to hear that our local guide gave you a great time in the rainforest.
Our staff at the reception and kitchen tried everything to comply with your requests and countless wishes to resolve all the problems with our restaurant food and other issues during your stay. It looks like we did not have any success. When we make mistakes we really try to rectify it while our guests are in our lodge.

Amazing experience in the jungle

Staying at Liana Lodge is an amazing experience starting with the last leg of your journey there, which you have to take by boat. There are plenty of interesting activities on offer (look at the web page) that will teach you so many things about the jungle and the local people. Don't miss the night walk!
The rooms are located in wooden bungalows, are very big with private bathroom and warm shower, and include balconies to watch and listen to the jungle wildlife. There is no electricity in the rooms but you can use the sockets at the main building.
The main building offers a hotel bar to relax right at the river and from a view point you can watch various kinds of monkeys feeding on leaves and fruits.
Staff (both locals and foreign volunteers) are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. There is always someone at the main building to answer your questions.

3 nights in a marvellous jungle lodge

Very beutifull lodge at the Arajuno River. Very friendly staff, comfortable cabanas, a nice restaurant area with a great view to the jungle. Daily offered are interessting jungle tours, which are included in the price. The food is great, prepared by a professional cook from Otavalo. Staying in this lidge is not really cheap but it is a great place to relax!
