Clean and comfy

Review of Tamsabai Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 30, 2023via mobile
All in all an ok place given the price tag. We expected much less but rooms are spacious, well equipped and clean. Staff is friendly and breakfast acceptable. Indeed, the cats are a bit annoying and there is only one elevator. But for a night or two you will find it to be a good enough place. Given the alternatives in the area, we cannot complain. We got what we paid for and even a bit more. Recommended

We were travellinv with my elderly father-in-law and options for a triple room between chiang mai and bangkok are limited. We stayed here previously but state of hotel had gone down. in first room airco sounded after a few minutes like an airplane engine about to take off. In the end offered to change rooms which was better but no hot water there. Breakfast was included but far below par. Still a safe, convenient location. paid abouf 1700 for triple room (though double rooms can sometimes be offered at a great rate). worth to check both direcrly with hotel and websites such as booking as price difference may be big. Depending on price and alternative options worth considering.

We arrived after dark (7.40) on a rainy night after a long drive from Chiang Mai. We didn't feel like going out to eat, but no food available here, except for the packaged dry noodles and frozen sausages with no facilities to prepare anything.
Not a word of English from the receptionist, so we ventured up to our room.

The room is small and basic with no furniture... all concrete, so feels a bit like a concrete box. No balcony, just a window with an external blind over it. No bedside lamps and no power points beside the bed for the electronic devices. Instructions are provided for logging into the WIFI, but they are rather convoluted and I wasn't able to figure it out, ditto for the TV. The room light consists of a fluro tube over the TV, and one down light.

On the plus side, the bed is large and reasonably comfortable and the bathroom has plenty of bench space. The foyer is quite nice and the hotel is just 450 meters off the highway and easy to find, with Macro across the road.

But the best thing about this hotel is the beautiful white cat, who took a shine to us and followed us into the lift.

I'm giving it three stars because despite the downside, it is adequate for one nights stay considering it is a budget hotel.

very easy to find this hotel for it is opposit to Macro. This six storages hotel is well decorated in Loft style. What I like most is extra pillow(normally most budget hotel provides just 2 pillows). All hotel stasffs had good welcome and services. The breakfast is fine.

Room tip: there is only one elevator,so it's a long waiting in rush hour.To avoid this, choose 2nd floor, no great view even on 6th floor.

The Thai wife and I stayed here for a night recently. It is a hotel that largely caters for Thais. Check-in went reasonably smoothly and we found ourselves in a basic and clean room in the late afternoon. Wifi was strong and stable but there appears to be a limit of two concurrent devices per room, an unacceptable limitation in this day and age. While it says concurrent, logging a device out and even turning it off was not enough to reset the concurrent device count.

We decided to have a light early dinner in the restaurant. The food is pre-prepared and the staff keep a ledger of how many of each meal is left as you order. Nevertheless both our meals ended up being tasty. However I do object to having a cat in the restaurant rubbing itself on my legs, walking on the dining tables and generally, just being there. It may well have been the same cat I saw walking on the front desk counter earlier. Looking around the hotel I saw a number of cat motifs but having such an animal roaming the hotel in the manner I observed is not acceptable.

Back to the room to discover there were no towels. Thai wife makes the call and was informed because the hotel was full the night before, there are not enough towels until the freshly laundered towels are returned to the hotel. We are promised towels by 7:00pm. At 7:30pm my wife had to go down to the front desk to again request them. Provided at 7:45pm.

Additionally the television did not work. There are two remotes, one to turn the television on and off and another to control the channel switching box. The television remote did not work but at least the television could be turned on via a button on it. Once this was done the channel switching mechanism refused to work. A call to the front desk resulted in an employee coming to the room but being unable to fix it. I declined the offer to call a service technician who would come later that evening.

Breakfast next day was fine if your breakfast tastes are confined to Thai. Despite the room rate including the breakfast buffet I decided to pay extra for the eggs and sausages which turned out to be okay. I supplemented that with some pastries from the buffet. The wife spotted a coffee machine and we had visions of a latte but the server informed us it was broken.
