Very far from town, but worth to accommodate;
owned by Chinese with passion to stay in Chiang Mai, good English;
the pool is super excellent, the room is too large with an outside bathtub, can enjoy the spa service inside the room (with or w/o air-con)
buffet breakfast is a bit disappointing, types of food is less and taste not really good.
no other F&B inside, therefore a must to go out for dinner/lunch.

My husband and I went to Thailand for 3 weeks from Canada, we spent 4 days at Corner Spa. It was the best part of our trip. Corner spa is more remote, down a winding back road. As soon as you get onto the resort you feel different. More at home...

The people were absolutely amazing, the best service we had on our whole trip.
The food was unbelievable, the best food we had on our whole trip.
The massages were fantastic, so relaxing and not rushed at all, which you find in other areas of Thailand. The only bad thing I can say would be our room smelled a bit musty in the beginning, but it had just rained so that would explain it.

The owner is sincere and loves to share his stories! There is artwork throughout the resort and he made most if it himself. Coy fish swim under the little bridges. There are only 10 or so 'huts' that make up the whole resort and it feels so quaint. Don't miss a massage or a cooking class.

One night, we sat in front of the pool and watched Casablanca on their big screen. It was so romantic and one of my top moments of Thailand. If relaxing is what you want, then this is the place for you!

The grand canyon down the road is overrated though.

Please don't miss the Corner Spa!

Room Tip: No bad room!! They all have an amazing view and private spaces!

This stylish boutique resort is situated in Hang Dong, in a beautiful countryside setting just 17 km from Chiang Mai city center. A great place o relax and completely unwind. There are 10 brand new luxury villas, all with their own modern-oriental style and built around a huge swimming pool in a lush green garden.
The friendly staff and owner of the resort do everything they can to get you completely pampered. We enjoyed a herbal steam bath, a relaxing Thai massage, nice healthy Thai food at the restaurant and we fully relaxed at the pool.

Don’t worry about the distance to the center of Chiang Mai, you really have a chance to relax and unwind here. And since the center is only a 20 minute drive away, you can make day trips or chose to stay in Chiang Mai center for a few days and use Corner Spa Resort purely for relaxing, so that you hardly have to leave the resort and get the most out of your stay. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: All villas have their own unique style and are stunning

Spending a long weekend in Chiangmai in early Sep. We rented a car and drove to the hotel. We arrived the hotel ard 10pm that day. The road was dark and the direction signs are not very clear, it took us a while to find the right lane to get there. They hv signs but all are very small and non-reflective, need to pay attention to that. There're 3 parking space at the front door which are free of charge. It's dark when we walked to our room, the staff was so sweet that he walked us back to our room with flashlight, actually he did it every time we came back at night. Our room is cozy and clean, they provided a mosquito lamp and we brought a box of mosquito coil, we did have good sleep without being attacked by the mosquitos :p
The Thai style fried noodles they served at breakfast is delicious and I like it a lot. One of the male staff speaks Cantonese and he told us that they could book the zip-line tour for us. They also offer booking of cooking classes and local tours for their guests, you may check with their friendly front desk staff =)

P.S. Their swimming pool is awesome!

We stumbled on The Corner while we were looking at tripadvisor the night before our trip to Chiang Mai - we had booked another place but decided last minute to cancel because of the poor reviews we read. We didn't know what to expect but decided to go with it because the pictures looked good and the reviews were uniformly positive. We weren't disappointed - what a lovely spot in Hang Dong! The resort has a warm, "local" sort of feel - if you want a 5-star international hotel experience, go check in the Shangri-la - but if you are looking for a small slice of Thai culture and a slightly more quirky vibe, this is the place for you. 11 rooms surrounding a beautiful saltwater pool with a lovely little garden and pond on the grounds. Staff are wonderful, and were quick to bring us (and our guests!) pool towels, iced water, even complimentary cookies and snacks! When we and our friends decided to escape the afternoon sun to sit on the restaurant patio (even though we didn't order anything), the wait staff made sure to turn on the fans and point them in our direction, and bring out jugs of coconut water. Wonderfully attentive in a gracious, not-at-all-obsequious Thai way - we felt really welcome.

Other pros: rooms are spacious and well-appointed. We had a two-bedroom unit with a separate living and dining area, which was great for our three kids. Breakfast was simple but ample, and they have a separate menu from which you can order dishes a la minute (we didn't try most of them because we were more than happy with what they set out at the buffet). Coffee was well-made and strong, pineapple coconut pancakes were lovely and the fresh fruit (picked from their garden!) was lovely. Service was attentive throughout.

Cons: the resort is showing signs of wear and tear even though it is less than a year old. Pool area is well maintained and the garden is lovely, but our bedroom had clearly been recently inhabited by a family with a toddler, judging from the pen marks at knee-level on one of the walls. Water heater in one of our bathrooms didn't always work, and the mattresses on the beds are Thai-style super firm. I am staying with my 5-star rating in spite of these shortcomings, which hopefully says something about how much the positives made up for these issues.

Again, it is not the Four Seasons or the Ritz, so don't go in expecting that level of quality. But it is a lovely spot with wonderful staff, great pricing and a quirky local vibe that feels much more down-to-earth Chiang Mai than a big international chain would. Highly recommended.
