“Bad start to a great vacation.”

If you define “comfortably” as no A/C in the living room/kitchen or bathroom; sweating all night while trying to sleep; turning sideways to get in the bathroom door; squeezing into the shower to stand & ankle deep in water or nearly falling in the kitchen when the microwave counter slides, then please stay here! There was only one fan in the apartment, not two as shown; the manager knew neither bedside lamp [shown in photo] worked as she said they had both been broken by a previous guest’s child & told us so! After asking several times about the bedroom A/C, her husband & told us that it only worked on low but would still freeze us out! After two hours with the floor fan going as well & the door to the living room closed, it had not cooled at all. There was no street noise. The only noise was that from the upstairs guests [family friends we were later told] continuing to move furniture until after midnight. When asked to stop, they said that they did not know anyone was staying downstairs, but it was made clear to us that there were guests upstairs. Towels were provided & one roll of toilet paper [thankfully], but no washcloths or h& towels. The manager never spoke to me, apparently because I did not speak Spanish. Oh, wait, she did say Hola when they first drove up, to which I replied Hello! Her husband & did speak to me in English & did offer to help me get our luggage in while his wife spoke to my boyfriend in Spanish. Her tone was not friendly at all. She seemed more concerned with being certain that we would be leaving Friday as other “guests” were arriving then. We stayed one miserable night & decided to leave. When we contacted the manager, she was very stern & finally arranged to pick up the keys & give us that $50 deposit back. We never asked for any other refund as we felt it was not worth the bother. When she & her husband & arrived to get the keys, she was very stern again & said that my boyfriend did not know how to work the A/C remote, that they were not given the opportunity to fix anything & that they had never had complaints before. We chose to complain as this was not how we wanted to spend our vacation week. She knew the lamps were broken, & her husband & had said the bedroom A/C only worked on low. The living room A/C had no knobs & didn’t look like it had worked in years. We had to ask for these things to be fixed? Isn’t that the job of a manager to make sure things are working properly for guests before they arrive, not during their stay? My boyfriend is a retired [military] electronics engineer! He takes cell phones & computers apart in his sleep, so an A/C remote is no challenge! When the owner finally called a day or two later, he said that we had disrespected his apartment manager & that everything worked properly for her! No apology at all as apparently there were no problems with anything according to his manager. If there were no problems, why would we spend more money just to stay somewhere else? We had paid in full to stay here for a week on our fifth vacation to Puerto Rico. This was our first problem with any of the places we have stayed in the past all over Puerto Rico.

Liked best: There really was nothing to like due to being uncomfortable without air conditioning.
Liked least: The kitchen cabinet sliding as it was not attached to the floor almost causing me to fall and the small size of the shower.

Interesting review. Looks like you spent a lot of time on this. I know we cant please everryone but I would just like to mention that this is not normal since I have close to 100 reviews on Airbnb and I have never seen anyone like you before. But to keep it professional we would not welcome you back at this house and would not recommend you to any home owners.
