We were passing thru Stonehaven and was looking for a seafood restaurant. The one we want to go to was not opened and a local recommended This restaurant. Coming from Asia, they served fantastic food. My memorable dish is the Cullen skink and also the mussels .. which for me was the best mussels / sauce I tasted through my entire week plus long journey around Scotland.

Dear Duncan L, thank you for such a positive review! It really means a lot to us. We are always happy to know our seafood/fish dishes were a success considering that's our speciality - it's a true reward. I hope you enjoyed your trip around Scotland!

The Ship Inn is situated in a perfect position in Stonehaven’s harbour area. As it is out of season I had no difficulty in finding a parking space right in front of the pub.
Check in was quick and friendly.

I had booked a room with a harbour view and the views were absolutely perfect. The room itself was of a reasonable size and nicely decorated and furnished. The en-suite was also nicely decorated.

Breakfast was substantial and generally good - my lack of enthusiasm being solely for the really cheap sausage that had the double iniquity of being deep-fried. Other than that, it set us up for the day, and the service was lovely.

The bottom line is that this is a good hotel in a lovely location and we would have no hesitation in coming again.

Room tip: To get maximum advantage of the location, you really should book a room with a view of the harbour.

Dear johnhouston2, thank you for your positive and elaborate review! We are very glad to know that you had a pleasant stay. We're sorry to hear about the sausages but it's always good for us to know about such matters so we can work around them!

Lovely food and very friendly staff. Dogs allowed in bar and lounge but understandably not in restaurant. Right on the harbour so lovely harbour views whatever the weather. Great place for food and to stay.

It was recommended to stay there because of the food, and it lived up to that. I had the best kullen skink I've ever had, the staff very very friendly and breakfast was very nice in the morning, I do love a full Scottish that is cooked to order.

Good accommodation very clean rooms . The breakfast was ok. Overall not bad but lacks any cosy atmosphere sorry to say we would not go back to this hotel but we loved Stonehaven. We did find that one slice of toast each was a bit mean.

Dear Maggie M, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We are glad that you were happy with our accommodation and that you liked our rooms but we are undoubtedly disappointed to hear that you did not think our atmosphere is cosy enough. We make sure that our guests feel comfortable throughout their whole stay. Indeed, most of our business is repeat business, which means our feedback is backed by guests who return because they enjoyed their previous stay at the hotel.
