We spent one night at Kuntur Wassi as part of a private tour to Colca Canyon arranged through the hotel. The room, staff, service and food were excellent. Our tour guide Harly was friendly and informative. We were able to see many condors during our tour. I would highly recommend this hotel and tour.

Great location with fantastic views from the balcony and tower. Good wifi. Bilingual reception desk lady was very helpful and friendly. Interesting, rustic, decor. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and bathrooms with all amenities necessary.
A great place to stay at, in the sleepy Cabanaconde village, especially after completing the Colca Canyon trek!

The location of this boutique hotel allows for easy mobility to explore the small town before your trek to colca canyon. If you’ve taken a bus you’ll be dropped off in the city center and it’s a direct walk up a cobble stone road to reach your hotel. The hotel itself has a peaceful garden type atmosphere

Pros: Comfy and warm bed (ask for extra heaters in the room if necessary), basic necessities, extra hot water showers, free tram to see the condors flying and to other must see locations. Luggage storage is available if you plan to take a trek or day tour. The restaurant was conveniently located upstairs and had a quaint view of the city.

Cons: some of the staff (front desk) seem to be difficult to communicate with and there were issues with our credit card payments for the hotel as we booked through a third party vendor. The prices advertised at the hotel were much higher than what you’d pay online. There was disorganization when it came to check in/out and luggage storage. The staff was helpful in transporting us but slacked on bringing us back in a timely manner- we waited 3 hours past the time we’re were supposed to be picked up...with altitude sickness! But they did make up for it by bringing us soups and waters to our room.

All in all, I highly recommend a stay here while you’re passing through town.

This charming Kuntur Wasi Hotel has a nice rooftop with a fantastic view of Cabanaconde. It is decorated in traditional Colca style. I especially loved the clean towels and linens that the hotel provided us with. The food was excellent the fresh trout was delicious with a glass of Peruvian white wine. My son loved the Alpaca Lomo Saltado and an Inca Kola. Kuntur Wasi owns a certified organic vegetable garden !
We were very impressed by the reliability of everyone who had a part in making our trip work - The connections, day trips, etc. The staff was caring about our welfare and made sure that we have a good experience in their village. We simply had a superb experience. Kuntur Wasi planned and executed an amazing journey for us. The culture and nature we were exposed to were delightful, educational and simply amazing. Our guides were topnotch and became our friends. We learned so much about the history, people, eco-systems, economy and traditions of COLCA.
Kuntur Wasi gives back to its community by supporting many educational programs. They also sponsor "Casa de la Cultura" a place where locals have access to different books and informtion on a subject of their interest. I felt really good knowing that by choosing Kuntur Wasi I am helping such programs.
Cabanaconde is a beautiful village that has resisted modern influence for centuries. Step back in time and behold mountains (Apus) and the magic of its people !!!!

Room tip: Rooms were large/ spacious
