We stayed here on a groupon offer not expecting much as we have had some terrible deals! We were just wanting a hotel to stay in after attending an event.
However we were very pleasantly surprised. I visited with my husband and 23 month old son. We were greeted by a lovely pleasant receptionist who made sure we were happy and gave us our room key. The room (232) was larger than we expected and had plenty of room for our travel cot (we brought our own, our choice) we had a 3 course dinner and breakfast included. We went to dinner at 6pm after being given any choice of time and chose from the extensive menu. The waitress was delightful, she made us feel nothing was too much trouble and was lovely with our toddler. As a result, we were relaxed, so was he and for the first time in a long time we actually enjoyed a 3 course meal with him!! I chose the chicken meal which the waitress offered to upgrade to a Sunday lunch for no charge. She also offered me a quarter or half chicken at no extra cost too. All 3 courses were delicious! And as already said the service was excellent.
The beds were comfy, the hotel was quiet, we got a great nights sleep as even our toddler slept 8am-8pm!
The breakfast was lovely in the morning. 4* hotel standard. Plenty of choice. I had a full English and pain au chocolat which was very fresh. Again the staff were very attentive.
We tried to use the spa facilities however unfortunately the pool temperature gauge had broken that morning which unfortunately is one of those things! But everything else has been so good we didn’t mind. We took our little boy in the pool. It was too cold for him(28 degrees) however it was ok for us.
Thank you so much for a lovely stay. We enjoyed t so much, we stayed in Chester the week before, paid twice as much and didn’t get anywhere nearas good an experience. You should really value all your staff as they have been amazing. (Those on duty on 13/14th May) special mention to the receptionist on both days, the restaurant waitress on evening meal on 13th May).
We enjoyed it so much, tomorrow we are booking again for a weekend either in June or July.

Had this hotel for luckily one night. The rooms could require refurbishment. The tap in my bath/shower was clearly broken and not fixed resulted that I only had cold water or very hot burning water. Mens toilets at the large meeting room had 3 cabins of which one can be closed. Breakfast was good and staff friendly.

Sadly I'm writing this review at 5am - finding it impossible to get back to sleep with my left hip 5 inches lower than my right!
In fairness everything was ok until I went to bed. Yes, the hotel is tired and a bit shabby in places but I can forgive this if it's clean and the service is good - especially when it's a discounted deal.
A comfortable bed is a must though and this one fails on every level - what a disappointment.

Room Tip: Avoid 342 - the bed is awful

Stayed here for 2 overnight stays while travelling up to, and back from, Northumberland. Did a groupon direct booking, overnight stay with dinner bed & breakfast. It was great - there was a swimming pool/hot tub with sauna & steam room; the restaurant was comfortable and the food was tasty. Rooms were more that fine for an overnight stay and the breakfast was perfect to set you up for more travelling.

Location (just off the m62) was ideal for out trip as it was pretty much exactly half way between home & our destination. Near the motorway but not noisy or anything. Great.

Well situated with easy access to M62. Very helpful and friendly staff who made sure everything was fine for my visit. The breakfast was just great with a buffet service to help yourself to whatever you wanted. Good comfy beds and good value for money.
