A pretty stone built place with beautiful outdoor areas and gardens: lovely to sit and have a drink on a summer day. Smart comfortable room with excellent en suite bathroom and a quality mattress. Service was faultless and the food of a high standard. Best thing we ate was a king scallop[p starter in the shell with emmental cheese. Starters 7 to 9 pounds, mains about 18. decent selection of wines around the £20 mark. We had a great weekend there and will definitely return. Unreservedly recommended.

On the whole enjoyed our trip. Great dinner in the restaurant, not as good in the bar. We were in room 3 above the bar so could hear the door constantly closing which was annoying. The food is served only from 7pm which means everyone piles into the bar at the same time, rushing to get their orders in. Not sure why these hours operate as people arriving at 7 or slightly later have a long wait. Some fellow diners had a poor experience as a result, and thye got a wrong order, so it's a bit hit and miss. Also breakfast at 9-9:30 is a bit late, and also seems to put pressure on the kitchens again with everyone ordering at once. That said the service and food we got were excellent, and though not great value for money, would consider returning.

Just stayed one night with my Wife and family. Cant begin to compliment the service, food and ambience. Absolutely loved the place. The owner/chef works 5 day week the last 20 odd years and has clients returning due to the high caliber of staff and superb quality of food and service.

Hotel is a few miles outside Patley but the relaxed rural setting just adds to the charm. My room overlooked a lovely paddock with grazing lambs. The entire hotel experience oozes character. From the intimate bar with real fire and perfect banther to the quaint dinning room serving impecable food. The staff were so accomodating and friendly and were delighted to recommend sights and activities. I will be back and i will encourage friends to visit.

From the moment we arrived to when we left we were most impressed with "The Sportsman's Arms" The ambience of the place, friendliness of the staff, quality of food and the rooms left nothing to be desired!
The lounge bar, where we chose to was cosy, with a roaring fire, and great atmosphere - and attentive staff. The food choice was good at reasonable prices, as were the wines. Breakfast, served in the very comfortable restaurant, with fresh flowers in abundance, was a great start to a day in the Dales.
Our rooms were in the annexe were very welcoming and warm, a great bathroom with bath and shower - and plenty of hot water!
We could fault nothing - 100% satisfaction

On our way back over the pennines after a short break in Harrogate, we called in for a spot of lunch, it was so good we decided to stay the night, the food was great, and the room (agreed it was a last minute rate) was great value.
Our trip to Yorkshire has shown us what real hospitality is all about!

A warren of public rooms offer cozy places to chat before and after sumptuous meals. Warm and friendly, the staff welcome visitors back year after year. There are a few rooms upstairs and four in an annex; reception is informal - knock on the kitchen door. The star of the place is the restaurant, serving beautifully prepared and often inventive and locally sourced food. We spent four nights. Friends had suggested we eat out on one of them at a renowned area restaurant. It was good, but not better than the Sportsman's, and far less welcoming.
