At the end of our trip to Italy we had the most beautiful experience of the entire trip, we had the pleasure to meet Salvo who is a wonderful man and a perfect guide who knows the city in detail. The walk with the donkeys was very pleasant and the views left us speechless. I highly recommend!

This trip is a must if you visit Sicily. Views are stunning and the guide Salvo is extremely knowledgeable and very funny, he also brings his dog Molly, she is also a character! He picked us up from hotel and dropped us back after all included. Fabulous trip.

I encourage you to read the other 5 star reviews of Salvo and his children, ahem, animals. Since all of the reviews are 5 stars, you should read them all. Having recently had the privilege of meeting Salvo and spending half a day with him, I can confirm that the reviews are accurate and actually a bit understated. I say understated because it is difficult, if not impossible, in the context of an online review to capture the fully immersive nature of this experience. To be clear, despite the marketing language necessary to attract your attention, this is not a "tour". This is a lifetime memory-creating-adventure that will be used to compare all other vacation events going forward. If you are still reading my review, you may start to think this is too good to be true and might be skeptical of such glowing praise. I understand. I was just in your shoes when my wife proposed we commit to riding donkeys through an old town in the hills of Sicily (I know, everything is old in Sicily). Only through her insistence and dare I say, donkey-like stubornness, did we keep our time with Salvo and only through this review am I able to thank Salvo for having the vision to provide such an educational, informative, entertaining, and memorable day in Savoca. So THANK YOU Salvo, Molly, Gina, and Katarina for transporting us back in time to a centuries-old town and sharing part of yourselves with us.

Finally, a word of warning for those who may be considering this experience. Salvo is not a cruise ship style tour operator who can conjure more donkeys on days when 2000 passengers descend on Messina for their day trip to flood the streets of Taormina. He is a husband, father, and passionate citizen of Savoca trying to do the best he can to provide for his family in a tough employment environment in Sicily. Donkeys are expensive to maintain and Salvo's prices are more than fair. That said, without the support of adventurous tourists willing to allow themselves to be transported in time on the backs of nearly extinct beasts, Salvo's "tour" will not be around for you to enjoy!!!

We wanted a godfather visit that didn't involve a tour bus, so when we saw the donkey tour, we decided to give it a try. The owner, Salvo, picked us up directly from our cruise ship docking area, which was great! The godfather tour that he provided us was so much fun, but even better was traveling through the villages and seeing the beautiful sites. I was a little apprehensive about riding a donkey, but no worries. They are gentle creatures. My husband walked a good amount, for the exercise - and he definitely DID get in his exercise. Very fun excursion.
