We had an amazing time at the Curassow Lodge. I had been communicating with Jazmin prior to our arrival to get all of the details of our trip arranged. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Iquitos airport and Jazmin was there to pick us up and take us to the port! She remembered all of the details about our needs and made sure we had everything we needed before we left. Leon, the property manager, cook and captain was at the port to greet us and drive us to the lodge. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived as we were expecting a lot less amenities. We had running water and electricity! I will warn folks that even though you have running water, you will not have a warm shower and the water coming out of our bathroom sink and in our toilet was brown, I think it was pumped in from the river. Regardless, we were still happy with our accommodations. All of the lodge staff was accommodating and Leon was amazing. He is a wonderful cook and stuffed us with such great food. He even went out of his way to fix us a traditional breakfast which was an absolute treat! Walter was our guide and did a wonderful job showing us all of the highlights of the Amazon. He grew up in the area so it was like he was showing us around his house. We saw so many cool things, we will never forget our experience.

Dear Cingie:

It was a pleasure to organize your visit to the Amazon Rainforest in Iquitos.

We are glad you felt in family with us, and that is one of our targets. You need to trust in us to be relax and enjoy your holiday in the middle of the jungle.

Running water for bathrooms is taken from the river with a filter. To cook we bring purified water.

Mrs. Jazmin is a very responsible person and she is glad to read your review, as well as all the Curassow Lodge staff.

Thank you so much...!

We hope see you again in a future.

Our best,

We had the best time at Curassow lodge. Our guide, Oscar, was amazing & so friendly. He took us on amazing activites which we will remember forever! We saw lots of wildlife and loved experiencing life in the Amazon. Leon, our cook, & his son, run the lodge to a fantastic standard - the food is delicious and the lodge is clean and comfortable. Incredibly good value for money and I could not recommend Curassow Lodge any more!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely!

Dear Georgia H.:

Thank you for recommend us with your friends...! This is very important for us!

We visit the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Reserve, 3 hours away by boat from Iquitos. This is in order to ensure wildlife observation. Therefore, our operations are more expensive than lodges located 30 min away Iquitos (no wildlife in those areas), but we try to keep affordable rates to give people the opportunity to visit a healty rainforest area.

We hope see you again in a future.

This lodge combines the maximum comfort you can reasonably expect in jungle with great food, friendly and helpful staff, knowledgeable guides, and fun and educational adventures. In the wild you probably see less animals that you imagine (especially monkeys) but that's not the lodge problem. Strongly recommend!

Dear Ali2792:

Thank you very much for take a time to write a review about your time with Curassow Amazon Lodge.

We are proud to be one of the 3 jungle lodges in Iquitos located in the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Natural Reserve (3 hours away Iquitos).
Cheapest options are located no more than 1 hour away the city, but there is not wildlife. That is the reason those lodges include visits to zoos, “sanctuaries”, etc.

We are glad you enjoyed and saw many animals with us!

It starts with a warm welcome at the Iquitos airport, frozen in time with old douglas propellor planes, an aqua plane and a helicopter. There is a porter who "collects " you by name as you enter this hangar and you know the Curassow hospitality starts rolling and only gets better.
An option to freshen up after an all night journey in a room in the city hotel Empranador ( at a discount cost) would have added to the welcome experience. The noisy three hour ride would have been uncomfortable if not for the earplugs provided.
Large bright room. Clean but dark bath room. Generous meals. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, Rim .
Only greenery and no flora in the jungle. Disappointed
High points were fishing and catching baby Piranhas.. which we of course threw back.
Caiman sighting at night was extremely interesting and if we were a bit prepared, I would have handled a baby caiman. Please practice this before we go on the night trip.
Surely recommend at least one visit.

Take your own stock for your bar. They may have only beer.
The high cost deters repeat visits
Jazmin acts much better than just a reservation manager. Get to know her and challenge her with a situation and she will have an innovative solution.

Room Tip: carry bright torch lights for the night.

Dear Ronaldo48,

Thank you very much for the time you spent writing in TripAdvisor about Curassow Amazon Lodge.

It helps new travellers to know better our Ecolodge, and our activities focused on wildlife observation in the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Reserve, one of the best places to find wildlife around 100 km (62 miles) around Iquitos.

We were there for a 6 days expedition. We had a great time in Curassow Amazon Lodge. Staff are very helpful. Jazmin, the reservations manager, solved all our questions before go the lodge. At the jungle, Leon the manager was very helpful too. The guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. The rate seems to be expensive comparing with tours in Cusco, Lima or Arequipa, but tours in Iquitos are expensive, specially for real jungle or protected jungle areas and Curassow Amazon Lodge is relatively affordable comparing other companies in real jungle. Considering its facilities and staff, Curassow is much more valuable.

Dear AlfRR2015:

It was a pleasure to organize your 6-day visit to the Amazon Rainforest in Iquitos. Long trips are awesome to know the jungle.

All our staff, including Jazmin, Leon and Martin are very glad you had a unforgettable time with Curassow Amazon Lodge.

We choose this location (3 hours away Iquitos) near a Natural Reservation in order to visit a healthy natural ecosystem and maximize observation of wildlife for travelers.
We are proud to be one of the most reputable jungle lodges within Natural Reserves.
This is the real jungle, and we try to keep affordable rates for travelers.

Also, we are the most affordable jungle lodges in the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Community Reserve. This is to give people in the world to visit the true jungle and see the fauna.

We are glad you enjoyed and saw many animals with us!
