It's not about the jungle...or the fabulous casita...or the great food...or the fabulous excursions. It's about the hosts, Letey and Raul! We drove in from Belize City hot and tired. Letey met us at our car as we pulled up and we were immediate friends. Her kindness and generosity know no bounds. She and her husband Raul made certain that all our needs were met. The casita we stayed in was perfect, clean, and comfortable. The food was delicious and the menu varied and cooked to perfection. Letey arranged our tours for us. Don't forget the horseback ride to the Mayan ruins, the river tubing, and most importantly, the ATM cave excursion. All can be arranged with transport from Macaw Bank Jungle Lodge. We left our Kindle reader behind and Letey went out of her way to deliver it in town to have it sent to our next destination on Ambergris Caye. What fantastic service. We highly recommend Macaw Bank Jungle Lodge and plan to stay again on our next trip to Belize!

Room Tip: All the casitas are private and hidden from the others!

Thank you for great review and giving us the opportunity to be your hosts. We love the jungle and nature with all these birds. You surely must come again. We are working now on adding even more plants and flowers including fruit trees, cocoanuts palms and more orchids in our tropical garden project.

Raul and Letty are the best staff you can imagine having. They are always accommodating, helpful and enthusiastic. The food is excellent and in healthy portions. The accommodations are quirky but very comfortable. The property is amazing. So much bird life abounds.

The only detracting element is the road in. If you are planning on going on tours everyday, you should choose something in San Ignacio. The road in and out will add about an hour round trip and it is a bouncy experience.

If you are looking for a place to get away, listen to birds, and chill in a hammock? Macaw Bank Jungle Lodge is your spot and Raul and Letty will take really good care of you.

Thank you for you review and it was really a pleasure to be your host. We do have a lot of birds and we counted almost 300 species since we started the count 6 months ago.
We are planting more different fruit trees so we should have even more variety of birds soon.
The 2 miles of road have some bad parts but local government promised improvement soon.
Many our guest find it very relaxing just to hang around in the lodge and enjoy the serenity of nature.

We are writing this review sitting in the front porch of our bungalow. Surrounding us there is nothing but forest. The only sounds we ear are the multiple different species of birds in the trees in front of us. On the right is a little black bird taking a shower, on the big tree to the left there is two green parrots talking to each other about the mess one woodpecker is making below them. We were expecting a nice place in the forest but what we got was totally different. This lodge is a few kilometres outside San Ignacio, in the middle of the Belizean jungle. The road to get here is the only thing bad you can expect, but that is not the responsibility of the owners. The rest is just pitch perfect. The cabanas are so beautiful and with a lot of privacy. The one we are staying is equipped with an amazing shower, fan, sockets to charge your phone, a really comfortable bed and the most astonishing view from the front porch. The even prepared one of those towel hearts. Around this lodge you can find a small cabana which is a gift shop, a restaurant and bar and three hammocks to relax while listening to the birds. There are also two trails one leading to a river and the other with upper view, called Buena vista. Marco is the cook/bird enthusiast/ caretaker of this trails. The food he makes in the restaurant is so tasty, from breakfast to dinner. If you want to know what bird you just saw, describe it to him and he will tell you. His wife takes care of other tasks around and both make the nicest staff we had encountered so far. We definitely recommend this place. Its paradise. We are not lying saying this was the best place we ever been. Over twenty different species of birds we could identify. However, Marco have seen a lot more here, like toucans and owls or even deer’s and ant eaters. Just imagine walking around with these guys. A place to return while visiting Belize again.

Dear Ruben,
We are very happy that you had good time in our lodge. Over the last 6 months we have identified over 320 species of birds in our property and this is just what we saw. We keep counting. Also, thank you for complement on our staff.

From the moment we arrived, Letty & Raul were nothing but gracious, helpful & all around friendly. Yes this place is remote, but for us, that was one of the biggest draws. Letty took care of organizing all our tours & provided recommendations. Raul drove us into town when needed & was always around to help. The place itself has trails down to the river & creek & beautiful. We promised Letty & Raul to come back in two years. One of the best travel experiences I've ever had.

Room Tip: Plenty of privacy in each cabin, you can't even see the other rooms.

Thank you Karla for giving us the opportunity to be your host. Our lodge is 2 miles of a Maine road through a jungle. We have some good news from town authorities of a promise to improve our road. But this is the price to pay to stay in authentic never cut rainforest.

I loved being at Macaw Bank. The rooms are sweet, clean and we had an outside shower that was really cool. Raul and Letty are wonderful managers and hosts. The grounds are beautiful and maintained beautifully but there is nice jungle around the area. There are great trails to hike, including a short one that goes down to the river. Raul was an amazing birder. I've come to C America many times to bird, and he was the most humble and best guide I've ever had. Letty was wonderful at arranging our trips and getting our guides, all of whom were marvelous. She had wonderful stories to tell, especially given she's been in this area and in this work for 25 years. I'll be back (to get my sweatshirt Letty--haha). The food was simple and good.

Thank you for generous review. We do pay a lot of attention to our plants and flowers and we continue to add more plants to our garden. We are planting a lot of fruit trees now so soon we will have our fruit for guests and wildlife.
We are looking forward to have you again in our lodge.
