Refuge for the weary traveler

Review of Sleep & Fly

This is a neat find! The rooms are part of a large business center near the parking areas of Terminal 1. They are bland and expensive, but the day rate is a lifesaver for those stumbling off a red eye with hours to kill before a regular hotel room is ready. I had considered cheaper options using an airport shuttle, but knowing I only had a short walk off the plane before crashing into bed was a huge relief.

My room had poor soundproofing and a noisy shower, but was satisfactory in every other way. Don't arrive hungry, as the only restaurants are back in the terminal.

The easiest way to find the rooms is to look for the Madrid shuttle when exiting. At some point you will see signs for the business center and "air rooms". Bring a printout of your reservation (they seem a bit disorganized) and be prepared to pay a small city tax on arrival. If you arrive before 9 am, you might need to wait a bit before your space is ready.

Hard to evaluate this option as it isn't a real hotel -- but for a specific need, the cost is the only downside.

The only odd thing that happened was we were asked for 1.5 euro for some extra tax. We happened to have coins with us (just arrived from Australia). The receptionist seemed to want our credit card. Everything had been paid in advance so we did not use it. No idea why that was not charged previously with the advance booking.

A great place to stay if you have an early flight out of Barcelona airport. Comfortable, quiet, friendly receptionist. Free non-alcoholic drinks in the room. Great coffee machine! You pay for the convenience but it’s worth it if you need to get a dawn flight.

If you have a very early flight out of BCN or a lengthy layover, the Air Rooms are a great choice. Clean, spacious enough (in Europe I have definitely paid more to stay in much smaller), well-appointed, comfortable rooms with showers, espresso, free beverages and wifi. The facility, which is located in Terminal 1 (the international terminal) Centro de Negocios, also has a fitness center and other amenities. It's easy to find -- just follow the signs for Air Rooms on the directional signs at the airport. Being able to nap and shower during a long trip, or prepare for an early departure without the stress of getting to the airport, is well worth the price, if it's in your budget.

Room tip: My room (102) had a floor-to-ceiling window facing the terminal and road through it, which was kind of cool.

Really disappointed with this 'hotel' it is really not a hotel at all just a stopover room to sleep & I would not recommend it for lone female travellers as the rooms are on a lonely corridor on ground/1st floor & there is no security in an area of the airport which is deserted at night. I would not recommend for an overnight stay. It is very difficult to find in the airport there is no signage & even the taxis & information desk do not know where it is! Apparently it has been here for 8 years and this has always been a problem but honestly they couldn't care less! I phoned the number on my reservation & just got music on several attempts. It is also expensive for what it is.
Seriously avoid & dong bother having s meeting here as nobody will find it!
