Good for a layover when you just need to decompress!

Review of Sleep & Fly
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 2, 2024
Obviously don't expect top-line hotel standards, but for its purpose, this facility is a WONDERFUL alternative to driving out to another nearby hotel or sleeping on the floor as many passengers seem to do. The room was perfectly adequate and it was a good opportunity to take a shower and lay down for a bit between my 12am-6am layover. I didn't get to partake in their breakfast but it seemed like a nice space, and the employees were extremely kind.

We found the Sleep&Fly in a search for places to stay near the Barcelona Airport. It can’t get more convenient than staying in the same terminal that your 6am flight is leaving from! The room was good size, clean, comfy, huge bathroom with double sinks, and quiet. You’d never know you’re at an airport. Super nice staff, fluent in English. A good continental breakfast is included starting at 4:30am and was already going when we got there five minutes early. Less than ten minutes’ walk to check luggage and then a few more to security. I would absolutely stay there again and would love to see a Sleep&Fly in Seattle, LA and Phoenix!

The hotel is very well located, the room is comfortable and the employee who served us was very helpful and attentive. The breakfast, despite being simple, had everything we expected. The price is a little expensive, although it can be seen in the location.

Difficut to find at the airport. Our driver let us off near the only sign we found for the hotel, but it was nowhere to be found. Finally someone sleepiing on the floor heard us and he led us to the hotel entrance which was on a different floor and around unmarked corners. The desk person gave us incorrect informationa bout departures from the airport . Once inside, we turned on the TV and it flashed that no channels were set. The desk man came in and told me to look at the instructions but when I showed him what was there, he admitted that there were no instructions in the room. He fixed the TV, but there was only one English channel. The crowning glory was when I went to take a shower. there was no hot water in the shower or the sinks. Again the nasty desk man checked the room and could not find any solution and told me to shower in the gym, which I did. There were noises thru the night that sounded like a cat. In the morning, we saw that the room next door had a family with a very young crying baby - which sounded like a cat. The breakfast was meager. When we checked out, the new desk man told us that he would notify his manager who would give us a credit. We are back home and still awaiting any contact or credit. This was the only in-airport hotel we could find, but there are lots of hotels near the airport. We thought that the convenience factor was attractive, but it was a terrible experience. Go elsewhere.

If you are thinking, how bad can it be? The answer is that it can be very, very bad. Our room smelled like sewer gases the was so bad that it woke us up at 2 o’clock in the morning. I figured out the problem was that the sink had flexible piping and there was no S curve in the drain. I’m not sure if a previous guest thought it would be funny or if they just have a really incompetent plumber. Either way, they should not have had flexible piping in the sink that allowed the sewer gases to enter our room.

We arrived at the airport via taxi and the instructions on the website were not clear on how to find the hotel entrance. I called the front desk and told the man I spoke to that I was having trouble finding the hotel and that I was at departures. He asked where I was and I repeated that I had arrived via taxi and was at departures. He then proceeded to yell at me that he could not help me if I did not know where I was. So I hung up and we finally found the front desk on our own. Signage to the hotel is poor. At check-in they were still rude but efficient. They showed us our room that was small but clean. The condition is run down. There were rips in the wall paper, the toilet door would not shut and the shower floor was cracked in multiple places. We wanted to place some items in the safe box but it was locked open. Their solution was to give us the master key to the safe. This was very odd to us but we used it. The bed was very very firm. We stayed here because we had a very early flight out of Barcelona airport and it was very easy to get up and get on our plane but I’m not sure it was worth the price for the quality of space and service. We paid 220€ which seems ridiculous.
