“Early to bed hard to sleep”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2012

We stayed in Mango Bay in February 2012 and although the food was excellent the rest was very disappointing,

The entertainment was very poor and finished at 10pm and bar stared to shut down at 11.30pm. One night the singers were told to turn the volume down as someone had gone to bed.

If all you want is to lie in the sun all day and do nothing, although there were never any sunbeds left unless you got up very early, it is the place to be.

We stayed in room 403 and there were bars at the back of the hotel which were very loud and were open til 4am. The music sounded as if it was in our room.

In Barbados you cannot smoke in the streets or any other public places so if you are a smoker you will find very few places to smoke.

Overall a very disappointing holiday.

Room Tip: If you want to go to this hotel be sure to upgrade to the best you can to avoid the noise of the bar...

It's a great hotel that stikes the right balance between service delivery, quality, friendly outlook and relaxed atmosphere. It's got great staff and in an excellent location. You can't ask for more. It's excellent.

We spent a fortnight at this resort and cannot praise the service we received highly enough. Everyone was so friendly, polite and attentive, and it was the perfect place to relax, drink a wonderful variety of rum cocktails, swim and listen to live music in the evenings. The resort is right on the beach, next to a safe swimming area, and trips in a glass bottomed boat and on a catamaran to swim with turtles were included. Wisely, the hotel has a ruling against people getting up before breakfast to 'bag' sun-beds with their towels, and although, unfortunately, one or two selfish people did try this tactic, generally it wasn't a problem. Our room was cool and air-conditioned, with a balcony, and we loved observing the wild-life, lovely birds, whistling frogs and cute moongooses (how could anyone object to those?) Food was good and varied, and there was also free internet. Great!

Our first trip to Barbados and we stayed at the mango Bay Hotel in Holetown. What a truly fantastic experience. Our one room apartment was well furnished clean and tidy with a very large comfy bed so sleeping was no problem especially with the aircon as well. The staff and managment were very polite and helpful at all times. The food was always of a high standard with good variety. We definitely enjoyed the complimentary catermaran trip to see turtles and swimming in the pool was a real pleasure all in all this will be a hard act to follow.

Warm, friendly and efficient staff throughout our 9 night stay. Ocean view rooms spacious and fantastic view and the only noise at night was the waves rolling in and out. Well worth paying a bit extra. Great atmosphere and ambience in beachside restaurant with good choice of dishes every lunch and dinner. Having been to Antigua and St Lucia before and stayed at all inclusives, Mango Bay is the best so far. If you like long beach walks you won't be disappointed with lots of sandy bays and beach bars in either direction. Recommend the free catamaran trip along coastline including swimming with turtles. Food good quality especially the wide variety of fish dishes. Great location at Holeton which lots of bars and some good shops from designer to well stocked supermarket. The reggae buses are great fun experience and cheap way to get around island.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and get ocean view if possible. Otherwise try and get a room poolside or towards the b...

In our final days of a stay in Mango Bay ,a really good hotel which ticked all the boxes Superb location with excellent facilities and accommodation. The management and staff are very friendly and helpful the food is varied ,delicious and very well presented
They do things right around here and expect the same propriatory from the guests - which is good .
If you are thinking of Barbados you won't do better than the Mango Bay.

We have just returned from Mango Bay, where we had a lovely holiday. BUT after the first two nights we nearly came home.
The Hotel is situated in a built up area, flanked by local bars and eating establishments.
The first night we were there we could not sleep until the VERY LOUD MUSIC and shouting ceased at 2-40,a,m, The following night a similar 'party' was playing music until well after 2-0.a.m.
On complaining to management, we were assured that this was a very unusual weekend, and everyone in the hotel had suffered . They were speaking to the local police about the incidents.
However, we were also in an apartment adjacent to the main hotel building, which is no where as comfortable as the 'superior', or de luxe rooms, and so after much searching, they managed to find us an upgrade room, - but at an additional cost.
HOWEVER I must say that the rest of the week went extremely well. The Hotel, and facilities are excellent. The restaurant, in which most of the meals were served, gave us a delicious choice of menus, and their cocktail selection was superb. There were plenty of bar staff, and we never had to wait to be served. The same goes for the restaurant, and all other areas of the hotel.
So it was a bad start - but the hotel redeemed itself. We met many people who were there on a return holiday, which is also good recommendation.
However, if I were to return, I WOULD NOT book either an apartment room, or a 'standard room(which are also near to the bar areas).

Room Tip: Choose either superior rooms alongside the pool areas, or de-luxe, or 'ocean view ' rooms...
