We enjoyed a wonderful weekend break at Casa Hacienda San Jose. The rooms, gardens and surrounds were excellent, and staff were particularly helpful. The history of the house and the surrounding area is confronting, but it is sensitively explained by staff, and the house tour is fascinating. When we left I accidentally left my phone charger in the room. The staff went out of their way to have the charger returned to me in Lima. Thank you!

This hotel was one of my favorites in Chincha. Even greater than CASA Andina.
I spent one day here, the food was awful and the AC are not working well in the rooms.
Now this may not be an issue for a USD 200 room, you expect everything to be perfect.
Obviously I am not coming back ever again.

The Hacienda San Jose located at Chinca Alta is a place where one can breathe the contradictory atmosphere of the colonial haciendas in Perù (an in other Latin American countries): fascinating on one side, cruel on the other side. The complex is beautiful, the food quite good and the dances reminding the mixing of slaves coming from Africa, with coast dances completes the experience.

Another free tour courtesy of Peru Hop. Fascinating to learn the dark history of the cramped confines beneath this stylish colonial house. The torchlight scramble through the narrow passages adding to the mystery. The anonymous slave painted picture in reception is also worth a look for a glimpse of life back then.

When travelling with Peru Hop (bus service) from Paracus to Lima, we arrived here at night and it looked very different from the daytime pictures that are showing here!

And since we know that we are going to visit the slave tunnel, it added some taste of mystery and suspicious in this quiet mansion. The tour is great, we got to know more about the slavery history back then. We also went into the church and the torture room in pitch dark.
