If you are visiting Rygen and looking for a quality and peaceful hotel, this property offer just that. Beautiful rooms and communal areas. Great restaurant, offers a reasonable priced menu and good wines. Well presented breakfast buffet. No shops or restaurants in the local area, and you will we need a car to reach this property. WIFI connection very slow, you will need a handful of vouchers from the reception to get online.

Room Tip: Cheapest rooms are larger, but located in the basement. Only a few rooms in the main historic building.

I have been in many hotels in my life but have seen none that compare. It is obvious that the entire staff derives great pleasure in filling all the needs and wishes of the guest, often before the guest is even aware of a need or wish. Our stay became a culinary adventure with each course prepared and served with perfection. A special thanks to Mr. Falke Müller who not only carried out his duties in an impecable manner but also proved to be most congenial and entertaining. His personal flair was a highlight of each meal. Cleanliness and efficiency are best described by the well deserved four plus stars. The only thing that can rivel the operation of the hotel is the breathtaking location surrounded by woods on three sides and the oceanfront on the fourth. One last thank you for the most informative and entertaining tour of the castle.

The castle is situated on a high hill above the village and seems to be in original condition. Mind you, this is not a very old castle. It was built as the retirement residence of a mining tycoon, who unfortunately died, before it was finished. However, his son finished it and it has since then served in various purposes.......

This castle-hotel is different from other hotels. In here you can feel the history.
The Restaurant offers a very good cuisine. The menue is not overloaded. Beside the dish of the day (need to apply early enough) you can choose between local specialities of the region.
Having a glass on wine in front of the fireplace makes the stay even more comfortable and cozy.
The breakfast buffet offers a big selection.
The rooms are spacious, tasteful and clean.
The staff is very friendly and helpfull.
Overall we have to say "Always again!"

We've been to this 4* hotel for 2 nights for our 7 year anniversary and didn't regret the choice!

The HOTEL itself is a former castle and you get this romantic historic feeling when walking through the hallways. It is huge, has a restaurant (inside and outside sitting), library, conference room, pool, sauna, huge garden and enough parking space. The sea view is fantastic!

The ROOM was very clean and quiet but a bit unpersonal. Not what you would expect in a castle. Still, it was comfortable and totally ok.

The SERVICE was excellent! The staff was always very welcoming, friendly and helpful.

The PRICE was more than ok! We got a special deal and therefore had a great weekend at a very low price.

The POOL is an inside one. Not big, but not too small either. Good for a little swim. The SAUNA was good, too, but the relaxing room was far too cold, too small, not comfortable and had a terrible smell.

The RESTAURANT (we had dinner and breakfast) has an awesome sea view! You have the choice of sitting inside or outside. We had fish for dinner and really liked it. The portion was a bit too small though for that price. The breakfast buffet was huge! Too much choice ;) There was bread, fruits, muesli and cornflakes, eggs and sausages, heaps of cheese, salamis and jam and a variety of juices, too. Everything!

The SURROUNDING AREA was perfect to go for a walk or hike along the water or in the woods. Right at the buttom of the little hill on which the hotel is located is an open air theatre festival stage.

The ISLE of Rügen is very beautiful. There is a lot to do and a lot to see. It offers a great mix of various of activities. You can go hiking, swimming, horseriding, cycling and a lot more. There also are some historic sites and landmarks both natural and man made. There is quite a number of unique restaurants, too.

All in all, I can highly recommend this hotel :)
