We like the place however on arrival the staff informed us there is 3% additional charge for credit card payment. We booked 3 rooms in total for 2 nights, so my question is who would carry that much cash to pay a hotel? The room is nice, the toilet is big but the toilet seat looks ugly.

We spent 4 nights in this resort. We really enjoyed our stay. We are travelling 3 months and this was perfect way to start the trip. We wanted to relax and we really did. Beautiful pool and quiet private beach. Beach isn't that good for swimming because of the rocks but the pool was excellent. There isn't anything else near the resort but you can rent a motorbike or borrow a canoe at the resort if you want to explore the island. Helpful staff and good food.

We stayed here for 2 nights during the low and rainy season. The resort is beyond exceptional. It is more private than the other resorts which are located close to each other. We stayed at the beachfront bungalow 2. It is very close to the beach but the beach itself is not swimmable as it is a shallow rocky seabed. We didn't mind at all about this. The room is big and the tv, heater works well. The pool was well maintained too. The room was a bit dusty but we assumed this was because there were no occupant before us for some time. Breakfast was simple and it was enough for us. The staffs were friendly and helpful and attended to us whenever we needed something. The resort arranged for our pick up and drop off from and to the pier. On our departure, Mr Kwang(I assume the owner) gave us a brief insight on the island and see us off at the pier until we board the boat. We truly appreciate the warm hospitality from him and his staffs. And about the island, it is small and there are not many shops around except for a few minimarts, places to eat and other small resorts. Don't expect 5 star beaches here but if you want to be away from tourist and be alone for a night or two, this is the place for you.

If you're looking for an escape from Bangkok, don't bother going to Ko Mak and definitely not to this resort - it is not worth the extremely long journey!
Granted, July is low season and we were one of three couples staying at the hotel, but the employees on hand are completely inexperienced and disinterested in the guests.
The breakfast is one of the worst hotel breakfasts I have ever had - I might go as far as saying don't bother eating it. There is no fruit on offer, simply some awfully sweet bread, mini club sandwiches and they don't even make coffee to order (cappuccino, lattes, etc.) .. there are simply nescafe sachets and some tea bags and UHT tea milk.
There is a major ant problem at the hotel, and I was bitten numerous amounts of times, no matter how much repellent I applied. The ants were in most of the mugs at breakfast and often in the milk.
We had to ask for separate towels for when we wanted to use the pool, and were given stained towels (great service indeed.) The sun loungers are wooden and extremely uncomfortable, the beach is dirty and not scenic at all.
The bath (cannot be called a jacuzzi...false advertising at its best) took about 2 and a half/3 hours to fill up and even then it was not warm and the jets worked sporadically.
The taxi service they offer is supposed to be 50 baht, yet when we wanted to go somewhere else for dinner it was raised to 400 baht there and back.
Don't bother with the massage... the lady who came to the room was texting with one hand for most of my massage and i couldn't have felt less relaxed. The massage was supposed to be 400 baht, but it was 600 baht.
The room is big and impressive, as is the bathroom, and the bed would have been great were it not for the ants sometimes lurking in the sheets.
I hope it was this disappointing due to it being low season... I'm not sure where all this great reviews come from.

This is going to sound as if somebody paid me to write this but I can assure you it's real. My husband and I were looking for a little quiet paradise were we didnt have to be surrouded by other tourists. We booked this retreat after looking at many hotels in the island and for what I have seen this is the best of all! This glowing review comes from the fact that the excelled in all aspects. The bungalow has really good standards and a very nice minimalistic decoration. The pool and the views to the beach are amazing. The service from every single member of staff is amazing and the food.. try the kung panang, the strawberry and watermelon juice which is like a milkshake, the rice dishes. Breakfast is nice too, with many options including English and american breakfast. We came and went as we plrased in the scooter we rented and you can go to very beautiful almost deserted beaches. The whole island is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. I will come back!
