My gf and I, along with 6 of our friends, stayed at Beachwood Resort over the Canada Day long wknd. Our cottage was the Centennial(4bdrms). Right off the bat we were very happy with the accomodations; it was exactly what we hoped it would be. We weren't looking for granite counter tops or soaker tubs, we wanted a rustic cottage on the water and that's exactly what we got. There are 8 cottages on the water all with their own docks and yard area. We had all the privacy we needed and nobody seemed to notice or hear us. The grounds people we very friendly and helpful. Also, the owners were very polite and welcoming. There were lots of free things to do, ie: kayaking, waterskiing, tubing, pool, etc. All in all our long wknd could not have been better. Oh, and the unltd firewood was a huge bonus! It was made very easy for us to just enjoy the wknd and we will definitely be back!

my partner and another couple stayed at beachwood in february 2010 for a weekend of winter activities. We were arriving after work from Toronto in a snowstorm and instructed to call the neighbour's cell when we were close (the family would be at their son's hockey game) so she could meet us and show us to our condo. What amazing community and family owned service. We stayed for the weekend, travelling to Silent Lake for some cross country skiing. The condo and grounds offered us serene privacy and clean, organized and cozy lodging. The same group is returning this year for a similar adventure. This type of resort would not be to my taste for a summer time rental (i like more privacy and less community) but for me and my group, perfect for the winter. I have no doubt that the service and familial atmosphere are the same all year 'round.

Booked by my father & step-mother, we went on the 2010 July long-weekend. My children and I shared a one bedroom condo. Other family members shared a three bedroom condo below us and another one bedroom condo beside us. Our rooms were spacious, with windowed/screened balcony/porch. Each of the condos we stayed in had a small living area and kitchen - bigger kitchen in the three bedroom unit. We had the breakfast/dinner meal plan, so we didn't do any cooking - except for marshmallows at the campfire pit.

We had a great time! This is a family run resort in rural Ontario - don't expect a posh, luxurious, 5 star snooty kind of place. The owners are very friendly, accommodating people who work hard to keep their guests happy in a down-to-earth, cottage like environment. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the service is great, I have no complaints whatsoever (the kids loved the food too).

The resort is on the shores of Buckhorn Lake where you can go swimming, bounce on the water trampolines, take a paddle boat out for a spin, or borrow one of the resort's canoes or kayaks (or even bring your own for that matter). The beach is small, but my kids certainly had enough sand to play with. The pool is nice if you don't want to swim in the lake. There's water skiing and tubing (which was awesome - everyone loved it), and plenty of life jackets available in all sizes. The kids had fun fishing off the docks with the new rods their granddad bought them. Overall, we had a great time and would love to go back in the future.

myself, my partner and two children came over to canada from england for a family reunion. My sister who I must say organises everything beautifully, booked 2 cottages and a room in the lodge for all of us. I will never forget my time at your resort from the lovely surrounding areas, the lake, the facilities, the company, and the great time we had spending time together. It was aholiday we will be talking about for years to come and we will be taking many found memories back to the uk with us. Thanks for a great holiday and see you in near future carol and mike williams and all the family.

What a rip off. I guess because they only make money in the summer they try to sell you everything. Here we are at beechwood Resort so they call it and they tell us for s 185.00$ room you will have to bring your own towels. If you want towels its an exorbitant jump on the room rate( towels are a human right in a hotel) we were not camping here. Plus the tv is one from the 70's with 2 dials. Remember the uhf dial? Two channels. The room is a large broom closet with no amenities. The pool which is supposed to be heated was freezing. If you wanted maid service that was extra but we were lucky because at 8 am domestics knocked and immediatly entered our room never giving us a chance to respond. Now that was at 8 am on a saturday morning. All in all totally false info on their site. Who could of thought!!!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our resort on Trip Advisor.

We would like to take this opportunity to point out a few misrepresentations in your review that we feel is not a fair assessment of our property.

As we have a such a wide variety of accommodations, the description of your stay seems to be that of our main lodge - which are hotel rooms. Our main lodge includes towels and daily maid service with the price of accommodations. We do not charge extra for this service. Additional amenities included with main lodge accommodations are: fridge, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, tea, coffee, and condiments - all easily accessible in the common area of the lodge rooms. All accommodation types enjoy use of all of our facilities ~ high speed wireless internet, heated outdoor salt water pool (perhaps you prefer it warmer than most), tennis court, canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, walking trails, water skiiing/tubing, children's playground, children's program. There is no additonal charge for any of these services.

The main lodge was built in 1926 and the rooms are smaller than the large chain hotels. The tv's in the main lodge rooms are older, but in excellent working condition. We do receive many channels (not 2 as you indicated) through our antenna system with great reception. The lobby has a 47" flat screen tv available for all guests to enjoy.

Our housekeeping staff do not begin their shifts until 9:00 am - at which time they are busy preparing for the upcoming day's cleaning schedule. They will then begin their cleaning tasks - tidying rooms of guests still staying with us, cleaning the units/rooms of the guests who have checked out etc. At no time do our staff members knock and enter a room without first waiting for a response and identifying themselves (let alone at 8:00 in the morning).

We hope you will consider a future trip to Beachwood Resort - perhaps in one of our condos or cottages which are larger and may be better suited to you.

We found this resort in the paper and stayed for 4 nights in a 1 bedroom condo. The room was spotless and had all the necessary amenities we needed. We purchased the dinner plan and found the food quality excellent, as good as any high end resturant.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
We are going to return next year and are already looking forward to it.

What a wonderful time my Grandson and I had. I would definitely recommend.
Friendly....family owned and operated and always present...makes a huge difference
Cleanliness....(Grounds with lovely perennial gardens) and main building (where we had our room) were very well maintained and very clean. We never were inconvenienced by Staff cleaning our room (think a fairy waved her magic wand and presto!....our room was always made up anytime we returned to our room.)
Food was excellent (and always a great choice for kids offered). It was well presented and plentiful.
There was lots to do for us (Grandma and 7 yr. old)..fishing off the docks, boats avail for rent, canoes, pedal boats, swimming in lake and a saltwater pool that was well maintained, water skiing.
Quiet resort, same people returning year after year...which is a very good indication.
