Designers and architects did an amazing job to make one feels like being at some French Riviera "high-rollers" place in the 1950's. The staff mostly keeps up with the place with small hiccups in the process, but still, provides the good experience. The only downside is the murky color of the ocean along the nice beach but that had nothing to do with the hotel, it is just the sand at this part of the coast.

Room Tip: The fifth floor and up.

Lovely hotel. Very clean with staff always cleaning. Food mostly good although the lamb in the Mexican restaurant and beef in Krystal was awful. The buffet was good with plenty of choice. You no longer have to book the restaurants which is great as if you have to wait for a table they give you a pager. We were in room 3067 which had a nice side on ocean view but was noisy with the entertainment being below. The noise was always over by 11.30 but not so good if you have very young kids. Staff were friendly but not sugary. No great supply of diet soft drinks. The entertainment at the pool was not in your face, no loud music most of the time which meant it was a more relaxing place. Coffee machine in the room but no kettle for tea so you need to order room service to get a pot of tea. Rooms spacious and comfortable. This was our first time to the Pacific coast of Mexico after 3 years at Playa Car and I felt this was more real and the hotel more relaxing.

Well what a massive dissappointment our return visit to the riu palace was last week, Over the last 10 years we have been to mexico 8 times, cuba, egypt, mauritius, Cyprus and a number of destinations all inclusive and this holiday is by far the worst we have experienced. dont get me wrong the hotel is still excellent, food outstanding and a great location.
How a hotel can change in 18 months since our last visit is incredible, virtually none of the staff from our previous visit were there and the new staff were very poor, particularly in the bar, the exception being the waiting staff in all the a la carte,s, Christian on the beach, Janet in the buffet restaurant and the barmen in the main bar.
Otherwise service was either slow or non existent.
However the worst aspect was the number of large groups, clearly on holiday just to get drunk, with the language and general behaviour, not acceptable for a flagship hotel, i got the feeling riu are trying to keep the hotel full at any price, if you like benidorm or skegness this hotel may be right up your street, we certainly wont be returning as we prefer quiet, relaxing locations. fortunately going out and about visiting bucerias and downtown puerta vallarta were enjoyable.
just a word of warning, if you are thinking about going on the rhythms of the night trip, be prepared for a rather bumpy 1 hour boat ride and pretty aweful food, although the show itself is very good, paid over 100 quid each for this trip and probably value at 30. as the food is so bad and drinks both on the boat and location limited. Sorry riu, but in our opinion the palace pacifico has gone downhill significantly, even though the a la carte,s were outstandingly good once again. Couples destinations for us in future.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room as it can be quite noisy

Can't see that anyone could complain about this hotel, it runs like a well oiled machine.Staff are happy at work and it shows in the level of service that you get from them. You never go thirsty here, there is always someone at hand to cater for your every need whether you are in a bar restaurant or on the beach.
Food is first class and we had no trouble using the speciality restaurants as they give you a pager and call when your table is ready. The food in the buffet is cooked in mall batches and is always fresh, varied and tasty.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable we had a partial sea view on The eighth floor . A word of caution, the Rooms
are split level and VERY dark at night!
We always were able to find a sun bed, but the quietist areas are on the beach under the palms.
We went on 3 trips with Vallarta Adventures all great, but Hidden Mexico was outstanding.
Hotel entertainment was very good at night with shows and music.
All in all we had a great holiday here and will be sad to leave today
Thanks to Kia our Tui rep who makes sure everything runs smoothly, best rep we have had.
Would recommend this holiday to anybody.

May 30th - June 5.. The grounds were nicely kept and constantly polished. The rooms were okay and of Victorian style, despite being dated but were clean. The staff was prompt and available. I will say from a first timer experience on an 'all inclusive' is the way to go. Although I found it difficult not to tip due to the excellent service from the room service, fancy restaurants and even the daily buffet accommodations. They did deserve all. Really not used to it coming from the states. Anyway, excellent food and variety each night especially the seafood nights. For the first timers, don't miss the Vallarta Adventures- additional cost, but IMO worth it. hint--zip lining & mules for active folks. Our family enjoyed the time we were there & atmosphere of other guests.
