It's a mostly rocky beach, so some good sandals or swim shoes are great to have for walking & swimming. The water is almost always clean & clear! It gets very deep, very quickly though so watch young children closely! There are bathroom facilities, food vendors and a playground all nearby.
The provincial park is actually quite small, almost as small as one could consider to be and still be a provincial park. In fact, I can think of numerous city parks that I have been to in my life that are closer to nature and quite larger. Port Bruce doesn't really work by itself, rather it kind of needs to be visited along with the Waterfront Trail which winds along Lake Erie. Unfortunately this lake is the most developed of the Great Lakes, which means wilderness spots can be hard to find. Combined with a few others (Selkirk, Long Point, Turkey Point, Port Burwell), Port Bruce provides as close to a wild view of the lake.
a great place to drive to at any time of the year. it's wonderful to watch the waves on the beach, watch people on the beach, watch people fishing or visit a local cafe. most of the cafe's here open during spring on weekends and are fully open for May 24 weekend through out the summer.
I always enjoy stopping into Port Bruce, the residence are lovely, fisherman are great to chat with, the beach is a mix of sand and pebbles which I love. The residence always do a nice clean up of the beach each spring after the long winter brings every thing to shore. Always a spot to relax on the beach, public washroom facilities are available and always a place to grab a bite to each. Charming little town.
Port Bruce is an unique piece of Malahide township , nestled on the shores of Lake Erie. Fishing boating swimming can all be found here. Make sure to stop in if in the area
I read another review that mentioned free entry. Well- you get what you pay for. I have gone here for years but the last few, it has really gone downhill. The beach really needs to be cleaned up.
