Estepona near the Sierra Bermeja mountains on the Costa del Sol is a great place for a family holiday. With an average of 325 days of sunshine a year, good weather is virtually guaranteed, and the resort is a little quieter than some other resort towns in Malaga such as Marbella. In spite of heavy tourist development in terms of resorts and hotels, the town has retained some more traditionally Spanish areas and has many excellent tapas restaurants. There are a lot of things to do in Estepona. First there are the beaches, including two Blue Flag beaches. There's the small cove of Playa Del Cristo to the West of the town, and the long sandy La Rada Beach to the East of Estepona marina. In addition to sunbathing, however, Estepona provides opportunities for golf, with at least five golf courses in the local area (most obviously Estepona Golf). You can also take the family on day trips to attractions such as Selwo Safari Park, with over 2,000 animals who live in semi-wild conditions. Keen shoppers will love the El Corte Inglés department store at Puerto Banús, 30 minutes drive away from Estepona Port with a large number of designer outlets, including Armani and Versace. There's certainly something for every taste in the area, and there's much more to the Costa del Sol than just lazing in the sun.
