If you are looking for some prime beach time, take the hour-long trip to the white sands of Santa Lucia, located 110 km (68 miles) northwest of Camaguey. Santa Lucia boasts a 21 km (13 mi) long beach, and the longest coral reef in the Caribbean. The calm waters that lap against the beach are perfect for swimming and other water activities. The reef, which at some points is as close as 200 m to the beach, makes it an ideal location for snorkeling and scuba diving. There are a number of outfitters in the area, many of which operate out of the resorts in the area. In addition to exploring the coral reef and the number of fish and other marine species that call the reef home, there are also a number of shipwrecks that can be explored during a scuba diving excursion.

If you do not have access to your own vehicle, you can arrange transportation through one of the many travel bureaus located in Camaguey.
