Restaurants usually add 8-15% service charge on a bill, and most hotels a 12% service charge to the bill. Hotels charge an additional 7% government tax. Not all restaurants charge a service charge, so check your bill before you decide to leave a tip. Managers of restaurants confirmed recently that the "service charge" on the bill is mostly a tip given to your server, with the rest going to the establishment and split among all the workers. Rule of thumb: most of the "service charge" on a restaurant bill is really a tip.
