Passenger rail service to Gananoque is limited and the train’s schedules are very inconvenient. The train station is not staffed, and is located about 3.5 miles / 5.6 km outside of town. To get to / from town will require the use of a taxi. Pre-book the taxi or be sure to have your cell phone pre-programmed with the number, as there is no longer a pay telephone on the wall of the station.
The Kingston train station, which is serviced on a much more regular basis, could be used as an alternate to Gananoque and then a taxi to / from Gananoque.
An alternate to using a taxi to get to Gananoque, would be to rent a car in Kingston. Enterprise has a car rental office about 0.5 mile / 0.8 km from the VIA Rail station in Kingston, at the intersection of John Counter Boulevard & Princess Street. If you were to call Enterprise, they may come and pick you up from the train station.
This applies to the Gananoque VIA Rail station as well. Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 440 King St. E, Gananoque (613) 382-8973 may pick you up, from the Gananoque station.

Arriving by bus will require you to go to Kingston first and then take a taxi or rent a car for the last 18 miles / 28 km to Gananoque. Currently there is no regularly scheduled bus service to Gananoque.

Gananoque has its own airport just outside of town which can accomodate small aircraft. For more information, contact the 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce.
For large aircraft, the closest airport would be the Ottawa Int'l Airport, 94 miles / 150 km northeast of Gananoque.
