Málaga is the largest city on the Spanish south coast and the main gateway to the Costa del Sol. Roads are very accessible and the rail and bus networks are excellent.Arriving by Air
Andalucia’s largest airport, the Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, is located 8 km from the center of Málaga city and serves Málaga as well as other nearby Costa del Sol towns. The address of the airport is Avenida García Morato. From the airport to central Málaga, travelers can take the Cercanias train, the airport express bus or a taxi.
Train from the Airport: The Cercanias train (C1) goes from Terminal 3 to the Málaga Centro-Alameda Station in 12 minutes. The fare is 1.65 euros. Trains depart every 20 minutes from 06:45 to 23:54 H. The Centro-Alameda station is 10 minutes by foot to the Old City. Taxis and buses are also available. Returning to the airport, trains run from 05:30 to 22:30 H.
From the airport station, the train first stops at the main Renfe station (Maria Zambrano Station/Vialia). Visitors arriving by air and continuing onwards to other destinations by train should change trains here.
Visitors traveling to Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola can also use the Cercanias train (C1) from the airport to these cities.
Bus from the Airport: The Airport Express Line A bus departs from the curbside in front of the Arrival area. Transit time is approximately 15 minutes from the airport to the city center at Paseo del Parque. The bus operates every 30 minutes from 05:30 to 00:00H and costs 2 euros. Returning to the airport, the bus runs from 06:30 H.

Bus from Airport to Marbella: A scheduled bus service to Marbella leaves from outside the Arrival area. It costs 8.30€ for a single ticket. For more information, go to www.avanzabus.com.
Taxi from the airport: A taxi to the city center costs around 15€ - 20 euros.

Arriving by Train or Bus
The Maria Zambrano Station is located at Calle de la Explanada de la Estación. Behind it, at Calle de los Tilos, is the main bus terminal. Visitors wishing to take the bus to nearby towns (Granada, Marbella, Ronda, etc.) can buy their tickets at the bus terminal. The train station and the bus station are part of the Vialia complex, which also contains a shopping mall with many restaurants and stores. This area is 1.5 km away from the historic center, which is around Calle Larios, the main shopping street. Buses and taxis are available. The taxi ride costs about 8 euros to the historic center. A bus ride to the historic center will cost 1.20 euros and one can pay the bus driver on entering the bus. The bus driver may not be able to give change for a 10 euro bill, so one should have change or a 5 euro bill.
Arriving by Ship
Many cruise passengers arrive by ship. The cruise terminal is located 1.8 km from the Plaza de la Marina, which is downtown. If one has luggage, it is best to take a taxi to the Plaza de la Marina.
The port of Málaga is only served by one daily ferry service to Melilla and a summer once weekly service to Tenerife and is easily accessible from the city center on foot.
