There is nothing more fun than taking a ferry ride across the Puget Sound to Bremerton or Bainbridge Island . You can visit the Naval museum and visit some of the shops, or drive North to Poulsbo (about 30 minutes away) and visit a Scandinavian town.  There are some fabulous shops to visit or you can rent a small electric boat and ride around the bay.  The return trip to Seattle can be quite enjoyable as you observe the beautiful skyline of city (especially at night) Just standing on the deck with the breeze in your hair makes you feel like you have been on a fabulous cruise!  The ride is about 45 minutes, each way and well worth the time.  You may even see some seals sitting on the buoys or some of those salmon taking huge leaps in the water!  Don't forget to take a ride in the horse drawn carriages along the water way, as well!  Washington State Ferries

If you plan to visit Bainbridge Island as a day trip there is a new hop on bus that will take you around without a car needed.
