Cosy Retreats are proud to present Exchange Cottage. This former telephone exchange (hence the name!) provides the perfect base for soaking up the history, sights and tastes of Northumberland. Now converted into a two-bedroom detached bungalow, Exchange Cottage provides spacious accomodation for both couples and families alike. The spacious lounge, with French doors out on to the patio and garden area, allows for total relaxation after a busy day of exploring. There is wi-fi throughout the cottage and the lounge includes two leather sofas, 32' flat-screen TV with DVD and Freeview and a selection of books, games and DVDs for those cosy evenings in. We're delighted to say that we can also now offer unlimited high-speed fibre broadband to our guests. There is a neat fold-out dining table if you're eating in and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need as well as a dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, microwave, kettle, toaster, oven, gas hob and fridge with a freezing compartment. You will also find there's tea, coffee and milk to welcome you at your journey's end. There are two bedrooms in the cottage - a master bedroom with a double bed and twin bedroom with two single beds. Both bedrooms are incredibly spacious with good quality furniture. The master bedroom benefits from an en-suite shower room with WC. In addition there is a family bathroom with a bath that has an electric shower over. Outside the cottage benefits from a private, fenced patio with a sturdy wooden picnic table and garden area - perfect for sitting out and the garden is ideal if you have little ones. There is a private parking space directly outside the cottage, which will accomodate up to two vehicles. There is also plenty of private, outdoor space at the cottage for storing bikes, scooters, surf-boards etc as well as an outside tap and hose for rinsing them down. The heating in the cottage is by means of gas central heating, the cost of which, as well as the provision of linen and towels, is included in the price. A travel cot and high chair are also available in the cottage, should you require them. Pets - The owners of Exchange Cottage are always happy to welcome well behaved dogs with responsible owners. There is a box of dog towels if you need them and we would ask that you bring your own throws/blankets if you would like to have your four-legged friends on the sofa for cuddles! Please note Exchange Cottage is available for short breaks all year round EXCEPT the May half term and summer school holidays.More

We have just spent a lovely week at Exchange Cottage, Warkworth. We found the cottage really well presented, spotlessly clean on arrival and well equipped for our week's stay. We have been so comfortable and the brand new kitchen was an added bonus. Warkworth is a beautiful village and we enjoyed stunning sunsets over the castle, just feet from our front door. We have had a super holiday and would love to return. Thank you, John

The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. Very nice enclosed garden for the dogs. Peaceful location and very well located for exploring the coast. It also has a good parking area. We were very happy and have booked for 2923.

Exchange cottage is right in the middle of lovely Warkworth , close to the castle and three good dog friendly pubs. The coast and other visit worthy places are nearby. The cottage is very comfortable and nicely done out , we had everything we needed and very much enjoyed our visit.

Just had a fabulous 3 day stay at this cottage. From booking to arrival the communication with the owner was excellent. On arrival the cottage was immaculate and spotlessly clean. Everything is there for your comfort, and is definitely the best equipped accommodation I have ever stayed at. A lovely enclosed garden which was great for our dogs. The location is excellent and as a base to explore the beautiful area. We loved every minute of our stay, so thank for making a great weekend perfect.

Thanks for the feeback Bev. Mattresses are a very subjective thing and the mattress you are referring to already has a lovely new topper on it. I'm really pleased you enjoyed the cottage and the new kitchen...looking forward to welcoming you back soon. John, cosy-retreats.com

This is a little gem of a cottage situated right opposite the magnificent castle in the lovely friendly village of Warkworth. It was immaculately clean which was obvious as soon as I opened the door and is without doubt the most well equipped property I've ever rented, I wanted for nothing. The cottage is perfectly placed for beautiful walks along the peaceful river Coquet or to the secluded beach. It's also ideally placed for Amble, Alnmouth and Alnwick within a few minutes drive. It's a truly dog friendly place and the pubs are welcoming too. John is a very helpful owner and I am already looking to book for next year.

I agree with all the positive items in the previous reviews.NO complaints we had a very good 5-day visit. Would recommend it especially for one couple and a dog. We were two couples and a dog so what is cosy for one couple was a little small for us in the fact there is no dining room /space for 4 to eat at the table. But the weather was good so we were able to have breakfast and one evening meal outside on the picnic bench in the dog-friendly enclosed back garden (not always possible in Northumberland in June) One irritating Obsevation was the poor fitting laminate flooring. Squeaky during the night's bathroom visit. One up everyone up |(Needs some repair for a good nights sleep for all) The wifi was good but no sky tv.

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback Peter. Alas, traditional old wooden floorboards that squeak (not cheap laminate lol) are not straigtforward to fix...but when funds allow, I'm sure my wife and I will get it seen to. Unsure why you would mention having not having sky tv, it wasn't advertised as having it! John, cosy-retreats.com

Warkworth is an ideal location to explore Northumberland and is itself a very attractive village with plenty of places to eat and drink. The cottage provides an ideal base and has a very pleasant outside area. We visited as a couple and the cottage was ideally suited for us.

We love Warkworth, so this was the ideal property as a base for us to eat and shop locally, as well as lots of walking and visiting areas such as Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Craster, Kielder Forest and Cragside. Good sized bedrooms, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Right next door to a hotel, but no noise issues whatsoever. Had the same problem as someone else regarding the bins. The recycling bin certainly hadn’t been put out for a while or, if it had, it wasn’t emptied. Full to the brim.

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately the rubbish bin situation is totally out of our control - we rely on our guests to put the bin out and the council to empty it :) John, cosy-retreats.com

About the neighbourhood
Warkworth is a typically charming Northumbrian town, with so much to see and do before you even think of going further afield. Exchange Cottage is perfectly situated for visiting the historic castle and the bustling main street with its independent boutiques, shops, pubs and restaurants is a real treat. Don't forget the stunning beach - part of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of golden sands. You can do all of that without going anywhere near your car! There are some excellent links golf courses in the area, the nearest of which can be found at Warkworth Golf Club, just to the north of the town. There are many walking trails in the area and it is a great place for a bike ride too. The town of Alnwick is a must-see with its famous castle and gar...
