About the neighbourhood
The medieval mountain village of Popiglio is situated 540 m above sea level with breathtaking views across the Apennine mountains. If you are keen walkers, anglers, food-lovers, or just wanting to soak up Tuscany then this is the perfect location for your holiday. There are endless villages to explore, untouched by tourism. The River Lima in Popiglio is perfect for swimming and just a few minutes away. For outdoor sports, Canyon Park is just 10 minutes away and offers the first high wire route through hidden, verdant gorges, suspended above an emerald green river. There are also Tibetan bridges spanning the river Lima as well as white water rafting. A spectacular treat for a family day out and for those who enjoy nature at its best.
Getting around
Although it is preferable to have a car to explore this region of Tuscany, it is possible to get around on public transport. There are a couple of buses in the village that will take you to San Marcello Pistoiese and down to Pistoia. In Pistoia and Lucca you can take the train to Florence and beyond. Trenitalia, the Italian train service is excellent and economical. They have an app. which works extremely well. Highly recommended to get around!
