Delightful Dilston Cottage
Stayed at delightful Dilston Cottage for four nights which is situated in a very quiet area and surrounded by stunning views. As soon as we walked in it smelt fresh and clean and is tastefully decorated in keeping with the character and age of the cottage. It is an absolute credit to the owners. There is everything you could possibly need for your self catering break away. During our stay we walked into Corbridge a couple of times which takes around 20/25 minutes. A lovely, historical town set on the River Tyne featuring many shops and pubs the best by far being the Black Bull. We can also recommend the Italian restaurant Casa Rosso which was very reasonable. The cottage supplied maps for a couple of trails one of which we did called ‘The Historic Corbridge Trail’ which takes you on a circular walk passing the English Heritage Roman Site and other historical landmarks including the house where Catherine Cookson lived in her later days. The station is only a few hundred yards from Corbridge and we caught The Northern Line to Newcastle for an excellent day out in this famous city. Journey time was only 40 minutes. We also visited Beamish Museum for the day which was a 40 minute drive plus we visited the town of Hexham and the seaside town of Whitley Bay. All in all well worth the drive there and back from Norfolk. Northumberland is a lovely area to visit and we would totally recommend Dilston Cottage as a base.

Home away from home
Beautiful, clean and well cared for. Plenty of cooking equipment, dining ware, and even a vacuum and a mop so we could keep it as clean as when we arrived. Bed was very very comfortable and our child loved the sofa bed. Fridge and separate freezer, washer dryer and even a dishwasher. Plenty of local amenities within walking distance and a very historical area. The Corbridge Historical Society display is definitely worth a visit and there are heaps of walks for dogs and plenty of museums and attractions (Beamish is 40 minutes drive away and definitely worth it!) Susie was a lovely host

Lovely cottage, quiet and comfortable
Location of cottage is excellent, so quiet yet with easy access. Corbridge is one mile away with good pedestrian access from the cottage. The roads in this area are a motorcyclists dream and the cottage worked for us in so many ways. The owner is great, there to greet you with a warm welcome and invisible afterwards. Cottage is very well equipped and we appreciated being able to have heat due to unseasonable cold, wet weather. Wish we could have made better use of the lovely garden. The wifi was good for web browsing and emails, not enough broadband width for streaming - perfectly understandable as it is the country. High recomment.

A highly recommended place to stay
Dilston Cottage is not only a delightful place to stay, it had everything we could possibly need for a self-catering cottage. It was extremely comfortable and cosy as the few days we were there it was icy cold with winds coming down from the Arctic. As I am from South Africa the cosy and warm cottage was unbeatable. Corbridge is a wonderful place, the river and bridge are gorgeous and all the resturants we eat at were extremely good. Feathers, the Rat Inn, the Black Bull to name a few; the coffee shops with their home made cakes and pastries were a bonus. There is history galore and a walk on Hadrian's Wall is a must but try and avoid the day we went when we were not sure we were going to freeze to death on the wall or be blown off - Housesteads is the place to go. Susi left us freshly laid eggs and altogether I could not recommend it more highly.

Perfect getaway pad
We stayed in this very comfortable holiday rental with our young daughter for a few nights. Would highly recommend Dilston Cottage - very clean, well appointed, light and airy accommodation, in a quiet location with a private enclosed garden and lovely countryside views. The owners really have thought of everything you could need. Location wise, the cottage was perfect for us - just a few minutes walk into Corbridge and in easy range of attractions and activities. Thank you very much :)

Charming with lovely views
Charming, comfortable, very clean and roomy with everything you need! There is even a small freezer which is wonderful for ice cream lovers like us. Susie brought us yummy raspberries from her own garden. There is a private outdoor space with lovely views. We were disappointed that the weather was a bit chilly to sit out. There is a clothes line and clothes pins provided so we were able to hang out laundry which dried quickly in the breeze. About a mile walk into town. There is a path by the river as well as sidewalk. Good location for seeing Hadrian's Wall sights and the countryside. Good selection of restaurants in Corbridge. Happily stay again if we are back in the area.

An ideal place to stay
This cottage is an extended wing on a beautiful 18th century Northumbrian farmhouse. It has been skilfully modernised to the highest standard and is extremely clean and well-equipped, and the owner is helpful and communicates well. There are lovely views over the beautiful Tyne valley-we were lucky enough to get mainly good weather and some dramatic sunsets. In terms of location, it is easy to access by road or rail and a 15 minute walk/5 minutes by car from Corbridge, a pretty and flourishing village with an unusual variety of shops and pubs. The railway station is a similar distance away and provide an easy journey into Newcastle. Highly recommended!

Joyful Spring in the perfect location
Dilston Cottage was the perfect self-catering accommodation. Normally, even the best places have one little thing wrong but not here. We found perfect contentment in the soothing environment of the building itself and the environment around. We'd planned a detailed schedule of things to do/places to see but by lunchtime, all we wanted to do was come back to the cottage!
