A superb quiet retreat in the Northumbrian countryside.
I had a lovely 2 week stay in this quiet cottage which is within a quiet gated yard. It is surrounded by countryside with beautiful views across fields but easy access to the main roads. It is extremely well equipped especially the kitchen and comfortable bedrooms and seating. There is a private garden with seating. The owner lives next door and is very helpful but unobtrusive.

Luxurious retreat facilitating fascinating historic visits and country walks
The cottage was fitted out to the highest standard. Kevin, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. We really appreciated nice touches like fresh flowers in the house and a welcome bottle of wine. All in all a very good option, convenient for Hadrian's Wall and trips along the Tyne Valley. One thing that would be a nice improvement would be to have the wi-fi signal boosted.

Peaceful & Quiet
Brownside is a lovely clean and tidy cottage. It has everything you need for a comfortable relaxing stay. Brownside is a good location for getting out and about as there is lots to see and do in Northumberland. You do need bare in mind, you will need to leave an hour to an hour and a half if you are visiting Alnwick, Amble, Holy Island etc. Kevin and Ann are lovely hosts and could not do enough to make our stay the best it could be. They are lovely company.

Fabulous cottage, fabulous views, fabulous location for all things roman
Everything you could need. Dishwasher, whirlpool bath, all kitchen appliances including a breadmaker and mixer. Very close to the great Vindolanda. Easy access to the best stretch of Hadrians wall. Use the ad122 bus to get to the start of your route and walk back to the car. Many historical sites nearby - join the English heritage. Carlisle and Newcastle also easy to reach by car, train or bus. Many places to visit further afield. Northumberland coast accessible in just over a hour. Friendly owners, wine and flowers a nice touch. Loads of information available about the area. Cottage is exactly as described and photos are a true representation. We had a wonderful week here. A real gem for investigating Hadrians wall

Hidden Gem
We had a fantastic stay here in August and had a great time exploring the surrounding area. Although we go north about 3 times a year this is the first time we have stayed here and I really hope it will not be the last. The cottage had everything we needed and was by far the most luxurious we had stayed in for a while.

Hadrian's Wall within easy reach
This location proved to be an ideal starting point to visit the top locations of Hadrian's Wall (Vindolanda and Housesteads). The cottage itself is really comfortable and very well provided ( but to be honest, the shower is a bit too small to luxuriate and we had overestimated the size of the king size bed). The view from the garden swing is really nice; it will 'flash upon the inward eye' in the years to come. The hosts are very welcoming and discreet. Definitely a place to recommend.
