About the neighbourhood
Brixham is one of Englands most picturesque fishing ports. The town is packed with festivals: Fishstock, Brixfest, the Pirate Festival, the Festival of the Sea and lots of live music all year round. A full-size replica of Sir Francis Drakes Golden Hind is permanently moored in the harbour, a reminder of Devons great seafaring heritage, and you can explore above and below decks. An early morning visit to Brixham’s famous fish market tour is the most authentic way to experience coastal life in the southwest of England. A swim in the wonderful iconic art deco sea water pool at Shoalstoneis also free – and a must. Perched high up on 60-metre cliffs,National Nature Reserve and Bird Watch Centre, is a must-visit with real 'wow factor' !
Getting around
Brixham is easily explore on foot. The nearest bus stop is located on Wall Park Road, which is approximately 600 metres from Bay Watch. Bus numbers 17 and 17A are the regular services for the area and run every few minutes. Other bus services to other towns run from the Town Square/Central car park area. There are frequent ferry services in summer (April to October) from the quay side to Torquay and Dartmouth. The nearest railway station is at Paignton with local and mainline trains. South West Coastal Walk is a must to do - if you want beauty, dramatic coast scenes, rocks and waves, caves, green fields, woods going down to the beaches, secluded turquoise bays - you can find over 510 of the best walking routes in Brixham.
