Mixed feelings about this cottage as the access is very poor the last 2 miles.
The estate only give the exact locations and directions after you have booked and paid, so we didn't realise the lanes to the cottage were single track {and we mean track with grass growing in the middle of the road in places}. The hedges were incredibly high so it was difficult to see traffic approaching and the few passing places were just field gateways deep in mud which is fine in a 4x4, less so in a family car. The road is also incredibly steep with right hand blind bends in. There were other holiday cottages, 2 farms and a fishing pond in this area so you will meet traffic.
The cottage was clean and well kept with a thoughtful food basket left for us. The downstairs bathroom was chilly as the heating seemed to be on a short timer, whereas the rest of the heating had a life of it's own! Beautiful and rural with a super view from the cottage at the front.
I would say this is a great cottage if you plan on walking or cycling everyday and use it as a base. Not sure about it as a family place where you nip in and out all day after visiting the local sites. The drive to it, especially in winter/ early spring would be a nuisance.
The access is along Ffordd Penrhyd and turn onto Fford Llyn Syberi so it's worth a quick Google Street View to see the road before booking, so you can make an informed decision! We met a farm vehicle and school bus one afternoon - great fun!

Don't arrive in the dark!
After negotiating a single track road, and a steep hill over a stream as you approach the property you arrive at Tyddyn Derwen. A bit hairy for us, but we were an all-lady party and not in a 4x4. Well worth it though. The cottage is warm, spacious, modern and well-kitted out in a stunning location. You won't want to leave for sure.
