Barn
Barrington Barn is an open plan timber frame barn situated in a large garden behind our house in Barrington, a lovely village in the beautiful county of Somerset. We are 5 minutes walk from the National Trust property Barrington Court, surrounded by lovely countryside with many local walks, and have a great village pub. The market town of Ilminster is 10 minutes away, the Jurassic coast, holiday beaches, and the nature reserves of the Somerset Levels are only 40 minutes drive, and the Quantocks and Exmoor are within easy reach

Disgusting and rude
Firstly, the owner rushed us to the barn as we pulled up and was surprised that there was 5 of us when it says it beds five adults and it was booked for five. The barn was dirty, spider webs everywhere and if you had the window was open in the kitchen then the whole barn smelt disgusting. There was food left in freezer and on the sides from previous guests which is disgusting especially because of COVID. No hand soap in the bathroom, had to buy our own. Shower was tiny. Wasn’t shown anything by owner. DVD player didn’t work. The bunk beds were for children not adults even though it says 5 adults can stay there. The owners dogs wouldn’t leave my dogs alone and the owner even blamed my dogs for the poo her dogs had done in her garden. Had to buy air mattress’ as it did not bed all of us and the bed slacks were even on the floor when we got there. Honestly I was very shocked, it was disgusting. The owner has been absolutely rude and practically called us liars when we complained even though we had photo evidence. The barn was in the owners back garden and it felt like we were breaking an entry into there residence. It was a horrible experience and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Not As advertised
This chalet was not as advertised. Very disappointing stay and would not return. Not suitable for family to stay. No path to building and had to traipse through uncut grass to building and felt like being watched by owner. Would describe chalet as Shabby, furniture not fit for purpose.

A very peaceful stay with our 3 dogs
We stayed here for 4 days in March, and were lucky enough to have warm, sunny weather for all of our stay. The barn was quirky, spacious, and with the most beautiful, enclosed garden. Our dogs loved it so much. Janet, the owners 2 dogs are very friendly, and our dogs loved them. There is no shop in Barrington village, so come prepared. We enjoyed everything about our stay, and would recommend it to everyone who enjoys beauty without perfection !

Great barn conversion property
Spacious open plan accommodation (main bedroom is on a mezzanine floor overlooking the lounge area). Kitchen well-equipped. 2nd bedroom (off kitchen) has bunk beds, but as we were just a couple, we used that area as a "dressing room". Accommodation is in the very large garden of the owners with a lovely view of their orchard & beyond from the big upstairs bedroom window. The owners (Bernd & Janet) were very friendly & attentive and frequently checked that everything was ok. Barrington Court and Montacute House are NT properties very close by. The village of Barrington is very pleasant, and there are some lovely flat walks around the area. It's even possible to go to the beach at Burton Bradstock, about 20 miles away.

Beautiful Peaceful break
A lovely place to stay away from home. Quiet and welcoming. A good base for lots of family days out and the hospitality was second to none. We will be back again and looking forward to seeing more of Somerset and neighbouring counties.

Beautiful Barrington Hideaway
We stayed here with our two children, age 6 and 10 and we all loved it. The property has lots of character and is set in the owners' beautiful gardens, with views across to their Orchard, where we were lucky enough to see foxes trying to get the fruit in the mornings. The barn has a lovely spacious and comfortable lounge, a bedroom with bunk beds perfect for the kids, with stairs leading up to a very comfortable bedroom for us. This has a mezzanine balcony overlooking the lounge on one side with a large triangular window so you can enjoy the garden views from your bed. A short stroll takes you to Barrington Court, run by the National Trust and a great day out. We very much recommend staying at Barrington Barn and think it offers great value for money.
