A special feature in this house is the bright and spacious garden room with comfy sofas from which to sit and watch the wildlife and birds in the garden, or to feel the snug warmth from the log burning stove in winter. The sitting room has original wooden floors with open fire to give a lovely cosy feel in the winter evenings. The dining room has ample space to seat four comfortably for dinner with the garden room leading from it. The first floor has access to a south-facing sun balcony, along with two spacious bedrooms each with views of the gardens, and bathroom with shower. There's no end of amazing activities, wonderful events and breath-taking landscapes to choose from in and around Brora. From hiking and bird watching, to fishing, mountain biking, and golfing, to colourful displays by tartan-clad pipe bands, or simply relaxing on golden sandy beaches, Auchencairn is a lovely place to spend your holiday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accommodation Ground Floor Cosy sitting room with open fire, bright dining room leading into 22ft garden room with log-burning stove, kitchen, bathroom with wc. First Floor Landing with access to south-facing sun balcony, 2 double bedrooms, spacious shower room with wc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Activities Golf is very popular in this area with Brora having its own club and ones in Dornoch, Helmsdale and Golspie close by. For mountain bike lovers, just five miles away in Golspie, is the home to the award winning Highland Wildcat Trail, established in 2005 and covering 18km of routes of varying degrees of difficulty. In the beautiful Brora Countryside and seaside features every imaginable habitat, so a wide variety of our fellow inhabitants can be seen in the wild, as nature intended. Otters can be seen on the River Brora and seals are often on the beach. Loch Fleet, south, between Dornoch and Golspie, forms part of a well known nature reserve with a wealth of sea ducks and waders. Here one may hope to see Osprey fishing. More

We stayed at this home for a few days, whilst exploring NC500. It was spacious, comfortable, clean, warm and just wonderful! The sun room was my haven, large light and tastefully arranged, ideal for my artwork. It was close to the beach, shops and some lovely walks and bike rides. There was a lovely log fire and a large Smart TV. Ample parking and garden- we saw rabbits and even a heron flew in. We would love to return and see more- Brora beach is stunning, as is all the coast along here, steeped in atmosphere, history and wild life. With the fuel situation at the time, it was a comfort to know we could fill up just down the road and also there was ample thought given to hygiene, regarding Corona Virus.

We decided we really wanted to do the North West Coast 500 (NC500) but we didnt want to have to go from place to place so we booked the cottage and did the NC 500 in stages using this as our home. Its a wonderful comfortable cottage and the beds are super comfortable and the bed linen is wonderful quality as well. The owners havent skimped on things and everything is very comfortable. We loved Brora beach also go to Dornoch very close by and just have a ball. A great holiday made better by a great cottage. The owner was lovely very helpful too.

The location of this cottage is wonderful for exploring not only Brora, but the equally picturesque villages of Dornoch, Tain and Helmsdale - all a very short drive away. The house is so comfortable and perfect for families or groups of friends. We particularly loved the sun room for lounging around in after a day outdoors hillwalking or enjoying the beautiful beach. No problems stocking up the larder from the local shop - open til 10pm and fabulous local eateries just a short stroll from the house. I know for a fact we will be back!!

Superb location, handy for touring. The house was a real "home from home", everything needed was provided, Cleanliness was high standard, all bedding ,towels etc were good quality. Loved coming back after a day touring and just relaxing in such comfort. A gem of a place and, as long as Mairi will have us, we hope to be back again, loved it.

Brilliant, an extra special place to stay. I recently stayed here with my girlfriends (22 April for 1 week). It’s really hard to find the words to describe our experience at Auchencairn. Gorgeous, clean, fresh and well equipped stone built house – ‘a home from home’. A huge and bright sun lounge with log burning stove for our chilled out evenings over a few bottles of vinos. Stunning views from our balcony. There are amazing walks starting at the doorstep. We thoroughly enjoyed our long walks along the sandy beaches and bumped into some sea lions. Enjoyable visit to Clynelish distillery – masked in history. All in all, we had a very relaxing and wonderful stay and we will certainly return. I cannot recommend this place enough : ‘Auchencairn’ – Loch Brora.

We had a fantastic stay at Auchencairn - a return visit for me and a first trip for my partner. It has all the charm of a cottage but is really a very spacious and well equipped 2 bedroom house. The piece de resistance is the Sun Lounge which is huge, very light and has a log burner. It's a great place to relax and read or 'hole up' in the evening to chat over a bottle of something...! The weather was extremely kind to us - lots of sun and blue sky which showed the area off to best effect. We enjoyed walks along the stunning sandy beaches at Brora, Dornoch and further North at Loth. Loch Brora is definitely worth a visit, Dunrobin Castle is a 'must' and Dornoch town is lovely. If you want to re-charge your batteries Auchencairn is a great place to do it. We will definitely be back!
