The Gatehouse cottage is set in the secure courtyard of Dovehouse Farm, which is a Grade II listed estate dating back to the 14th century, located in wonderful countryside just outside the village of Shustoke in North Warwickshire. The Gatehouse was completely refurbished at the end of 2015, blending modern luxurious fittings with retained historic character. Shustoke is an ancient village in Warwickshire, recorded in The Great Survey of 1086 (Domesday Book) as “Scotescote.” The parish registers are some of the earliest in the country, dating from the reign of Henry VIII, and include entries in the handwriting of Sir William Dugdale, who was born on Shawbury Lane and is widely regarded as the country’s first and greatest antiquarian. Today, Shustoke retains its village character, in a quiet and beautiful rural setting close to Coton Lakes and Ladywalk Nature Reserve as well as other areas of natural interest off the beaten track.

From M6 or M42, leave at the junction with the A446 and head towards Coleshill. Stay on the A446 until it crosses the B4114 at a roundabout just outside Coleshill. Take the B4114 'Birmingham Road' heading into Coleshill. Continue straight on at the crossroads in Coleshill, where you will see a pub on the right as you approach, and where the B4114 then becomes “Blyth Road.” Continue on the B4114, passing Shustoke reservoir signed on your left, through Shustoke village, passing the Plough Inn on the right. At the other end of the village, you will come to a sharp left bend in the road, with the Griffin Inn on your left. Turn right here onto Shawbury Lane and follow the lane until you see our stone entrance archway on your right.
